We are a research, development, and production site in Bremen currently, with about 500 employees, whose “high-end” measurement and analysis instruments (mass spectrometers) are used in research and science worldwide. Our innovative products in the fields of Life Sciences MS and Inorganic MS, as well as Trace Elemental Analysis, are among the leading products globally in their respective markets. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Instrument Control Software Engineer to join our dynamic Research & Development team in Bremen.
A day in the Life:
Join our motivated Life Science Mass Spectrometry R&D team and become an integral member on an exciting journey filled with diverse tasks and responsibilities that offer growth and development opportunities.
As a Senior Instrument Control Software Engineer, your primary focus will be on the development and maintenance of embedded software for controlling mass spectrometers. You will proactively prioritize, estimate work items, and analyze data to solve complex technical problems. Working closely with our software architect and talented colleagues, you will play a vital role in deriving detailed software technical specifications and overseeing all stages of software development, from initial research to customer release.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to independently develop complex concepts according to given architectures and implement them in code using contemporary technologies, software quality standards, and programming patterns. Additionally, you will provide guidance, help and support to software colleagues and cross-functional teams involved in developing Mass Spectrometers, different perspectives and talents come together to achieve common goals.
As an integral part of the project cycle, you will proactively contribute to seamless knowledge transfer to other software colleagues, the science team, and the product management team. Your expertise and contributions will enable them to effectively support the newly developed instruments and ensure their success in the market.

Demonstrate first years of industrial experience in software development of sophisticated analytic instrumentation following the completion of a Doctoral degree in technical discipline showcasing your expertise and dedication in the field.Or several years of industrial experience after completion of a master’s degree.Or multiple years of industrial experience after completion of a bachelor’s degree.Showcase experience in working on embedded software development for sophisticated software architectures.Prior experience in the field of analytic instrumentation, especially in Mass Spectrometry, is highly desirable.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
