Role Description
The Senior Integration Engineer is responsible for the integration of software and hardware components within a complex software centric ATM system. The role involves coordinating and executing integration activities, troubleshooting system issues and ensuring the various components are working seamlessly together while satisfying functional and performance requirements.
Working within a Integrated Product Team, the role may also involve Verification and Validation activities.
Responsibilities
Conduct the successful integration and the test of incremental software releases for systems and/or subsystems, in accordance with the schedule set by the Technical Leads and WPMManage and/or contribute to the setup of environments to facilitate the integration, testing and acceptance activities required by the program. Provide instruction on the setup of environments to support validation activities.Define and/or contribute to testing activities across multiple platforms (regression, interface, simulation scenarios and test tools) to support project milestones and deadlinesAble to analyse System/Subsystem technical and functional issues, ensuring they are identified early, captured fully and logged according to internal processes.To collaborate with System, Subsystem and Infrastructure teams to ensure that the integration activities are in line with the design and specificationsOutput documentation and engineering artefacts (E.g. System Integration Test Documentation) with the expected level of compliance (functional, performance, robustness, security and quality) that are aligned with internal configuration management processes.Produce scripts in order to automate system administration tasks. Manage and/or implement test & measuring tools used for system performance, loading and response-time assessmentProvide technical support to junior integrators and the V&V teamsSupport Technical Leads and WPM through:Making recommendations on strategies to improve performance or productivityIdentify risks, and proposing effective solution early and executing mitigation actionsProviding input into the planning and coordination of program integration activities Work directly with the customer and internal integration training (as required)Identify risks, and propose effective solutions; execute mitigation actions and report on outcomes / cost savings and residual risksAuthoring and/or reviewing documentation and documentation updates Promote knowledge sharing ensuring that work is captured sufficiently for re-use across projectsFollowing Thales processes and practises and contribute to their improvementKnowledge, Skills & Experience
Qualifications
Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, IT or relevant experienceEssential Experience
5 years minimum experience holding similar positions integrating complex software-centric real-time systemsAbility to understand the structure of and troubleshoot Virtualisation Platforms/Operating Systems (Clients/Servers): 3+ yearsLinux/Unix Operating Systems, SNMP Services, RSYSLOGWindows Operating systemsVMWareScripting: Python, Shell, XML: 3+ yearsDevOps and Automation Tools: Ansible, JenkinsConfiguration Management: GIT (Bitbucket), JIRACybersecurity: LDAP, AD, PKINetwork Protocols and technologies: SNMP, UDP, TCP, IPDebugging tools e.g. WiresharkInfrastructure monitoring toolsAptitude to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary integrated team environment with colleagues based in remote sites or other countries.A positive attitude combined with excellent interpersonal and motivational skills.Ability to effectively communicate complex engineering issues and concepts both verbally and written - tailored appropriately for the stakeholderExcellent written and oral communication skills in EnglishDesirable:
