Lead interior design efforts on higher education projects from concept through construction. Collaborate with architects, consultants, and clients to develop integrated design solutions. Conduct programming, space planning, FF&E selection, and material specifications. Mentor junior designers and contribute to a culture of design excellence. Participate in client presentations, interviews, and project pitches. Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the higher education sector and maintain strong client relationships and industry connections. Stay current with trends in campus design, sustainability, and learning environments.
ResponsibilitiesLead design efforts on higher education projects from concept through construction.Collaborate with architects, consultants, and clients to develop integrated design solutions.Conduct programming, space planning, FF&E selection, and material specifications.Mentor junior designers and foster a culture of design excellence.Participate in client presentations, interviews, and project pitches.Identify and pursue new business opportunities in higher education.Maintain strong client relationships and industry connections.Stay updated with trends in campus design, sustainability, and learning environments.Essential SkillsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture.NCIDQ certification required.8+ years of professional experience with a strong portfolio in higher education.Proven ability to lead projects and manage client relationships.Proficiency in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and other design tools.Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsPassion for higher education or healthcare environments.Strong interest in business development.WELL accreditation is a plus.Experience in project management and interior design.Work Environment
The position is based in the Baltimore office, focusing on higher education projects with an openness to healthcare projects as well. You will be part of a team of five on the interiors side, which is currently expanding. The company offers a collaborative and creative, team-centered environment, working on a variety of project types for significant healthcare, academic, cultural, corporate, and government clients. Leadership opportunities for financial ownership in the firm and positioning for an Associate Principal role are available. The company plans to grow to 75 people in the next 10 years, offering a promising career path for upcoming interior designers.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.26 - $50.48/hr.
