The CBC News app is used by millions of Canadians across the country. Our News Native Apps team is seeking a Senior iOS Developer to support the continued success and evolution of the News app for a one year contract. We need someone committed to ensuring our Canadian audience has the best media experience possible. This is a level of exposure and impact that few other roles provide.

You will work on a product with an emphasis on discoverability, accessibility and engagement that is used by a large Canadian audience.You will be part of the full development cycle - planning, implementation and testing.You will contribute to modernizing the codebase to make use of newer iOS tools, libraries and frameworksThis role will have the potential to move into cross-platform development as we define that future workQualifications
You have 4+ years of experience in software development.You have 3+ years of experience using SwiftYou can support legacy Java code and the migration of Objective-C to Swift.You have 1+ years of experience with Swift UIYou have experience with building and integrating cross-platform modules into a native iOS application.You use REST APIs and Graph Query Language (GQL/GraphQL) to communicate with backend services.You understand common architectural and design patterns such as MVVM, Clean Architecture and Chain of Responsibility.You understand the importance of modularizing code and are able to demonstrate that knowledge.Run-time, code quality, maintainability and scaleability are key factors when you consider solutions.You proactively seek out new approaches to iOS development and identify opportunities to improve the codebase.Quality engineering is part of your development process and you are able to write unit tests, and perform manual testing. You are familiar with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) and how it improves the release process.You clearly communicate your technical choices and why you made them.You follow Agile Principles for software development.You take responsibility for the team's work and success, not just your individual goals.You are an advocate for diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in your workplace and understand the advantage this brings to your work.You will be subject to skills and knowledge testing with an assignment to be done in your own time.
