Department Summary:
The Advanced Capabilities Department (N162) within the Integrated All-Domain Effects Division (N160) in MITRE’s Air and Space Forces Center focuses on developing and enabling capabilities to counter peer adversaries and enable the US to project power and operate within highly contested environments. The Advanced Capabilities IT Systems Architects group is seeking a full-time Systems Administrator to support the deployment, operation, and maintenance of IT systems in classified lab environments. This is a role best suited for someone who has prior experience working as a classified IT Systems Administrator. This is an on-premises position on our Bedford, MA campus.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Building and hardening Windows, Linux, Hypervisor systems (VMware).User maintenance activities on both Windows and Linux operating systemsPerform general systems administration (patching, updates, user support) of:Windows & Linux clients and servers.Network switches.VMware ESXi and vCenter.Network Storage Systems.Configure: DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Active Directory, Backup Solutions, and least-privilege.Maintenance of other systems/services according to project needs (LogInsight, WSUS, Gitlab, Trellix ePO, Nessus, Teamwork Cloud, miscellaneous web servers, etc.).Configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and secure systems and network devices to comply with DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).Assist IA team with coordination between sponsors, MITRE project leaders, and MITRE’s accreditation officials to obtain formal accreditation to operate classified information systems.Basic Qualifications:
Active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearanceTypically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree’ or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute at this job step; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.Working knowledge of server and client operating systems (Win10, Srv2016+, RHEL).Fundamental understanding of lab IT architecture and supporting air-gapped systems.Fundamental understanding of system administration, network, and operating system hardening techniques.Fundamental understanding of operating system command-line tools and scripting.Ability to interface with customers and provide a high level of customer service. Ability to function effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Ability to collaborate effectively with others.This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.In accordance with DoD 8570.01M, the selected individual must meet the requirements of an IAT Level II as a condition of employment (Security+).This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-sitePreferred Qualifications:
