Senior IT Business Analyst

Overview

Cadence is a platform that supports Corporate A & H in EMEA and Latin America (Chile). This is an application which supports the full policy life cycle and is fully integrated with Financial and document management systems such as WorkView and Genius (SIS in Latin America). The system incorporates an Azure-based integration layer that allows Cadence to connect and integrate with external systems. Today, Cadence is integrated with Ignite (The EMEA Market Facing Platform) that allows brokers and Agents to obtain quotes and bind policies that automatically flow into Cadence and then into WorkView and Genius. Cadence enables a single point of entry for an underwriter to manage referrals, renewals, view / add / update documents irrespective of where the transaction originated. 

 

Cadence is supported by a Data Lake that runs on Microsoft’s Azure-based Analytics and Insights platform (AIP) – providing dashboards and reporting capabilities for management, underwriters, portfolio analysts and others.

 

Cadence is built on the IBM FileNet tech stack and the front-end leverages the Unity Framework from Intellective. The team comprises Chubb FTE and Vendor partners from several outsourced providers.

 

Responsibilities:

 

• You will be responsible for setting & maintaining the standards of business requirement gathering, ensuring that the BA team adhere to them, deliver on-time & ready for the developers and testers to consume. 

• You will be the core SME BA for the system & you will be responsible for ensuring that the expertise & specialisms are also appropriately spread across the BA team 

• The IT Lead Business Analyst will ensure that the BA team works with the business users and the test teams to ensure all User Acceptance Testing activities are coordinated and completed within the overall project timelines.

• This role is also responsible for the capture and development of the business requirements for the small change and larger enhancements. It is expected that this role also creates Business Requirement Documents as needed as this is not merely a supervisory or oversight role.

• The range of tasks that the Cadence BA team will work on will range from large projects, small enhancement projects and production support requests for the core policy system across all countries.

• You will need to learn and then follow the Chubb Change Delivery Framework throughout the entire project.

• As a Lead BA, you will need to discuss ideas / proposals with the business and Provide indications as to the feasibility of the requirements from a technology perspective and to guide the business towards a solution that best fits their needs.

• Liaison among key stakeholders, including other IT Business Analysts, Enterprise Architects, Technical Analysts, business clients and third party on/offshore IT providers.

• Good communication skills and an ability to push back to senior stakeholders when necessary is fundamental to the role. 

• Cadence uses both agile and waterfall methodologies. The business / software requirement documentation needs to be flexible to adapt to either of these methodologies to define processes, amend existing reports or define new system functionality. 

• You will need to work closely with outsourcing IT partners (on/offshore) and respond to requirements / functional design queries during the software build phase.

• This role will provide the interface between the Business and the Development Teams with regards to defining the solution requirements through engagement with third-party providers. This role will require good technical skills, and business systems knowledge to turn business requirements into a well-documented solution. 

• You will be required to co-ordinate the UAT activities with the business and review the results of system test activities with offshore providers. Demonstrations of systems to current and prospective business users will also be required from time to time.

Qualifications:

• Tertiary qualifications in either Information Technology or related fields is essential.

• Min 8 years’ experience as a Business Analyst on large, multi-country projects

• Strong verbal, written and presentation skills

• Strong analytical, reasoning, organizational and negotiation skills

• Demonstrated experience in production business requirement and functional documents.

• Ability to engage and communicate with all levels staff from both the business and IT teams

• Strong ability to multitask and to work tasks without daily supervisor interaction

• Self-starter – Proactive, investigative, willing to challenge assumptions and defend solution proposals at all levels.

• Strong knowledge of both Agile and Waterfall methodologies

• Understanding of the application development lifecycle and SDLC principles.

• Experience working with outsourcing and external third-party suppliers/partners

• Able to travel as needed for meetings/workshops (within the UK and Continental Europe)

• Insurance or financial services and digital transformation domain knowledge

• European language skills would be advantageous but not essential
