Senior IT Project Manager – Asia Data Office

We are looking for an experienced Senior IT Data Project Manager to lead and manage data-centric projects within our organization. This role involves planning, executing, and delivering data projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Position Responsibilities:
1. Project Intake and Initiation:
Support the build of business case by identifying business needs, conducting feasibility study, identifying business benefits, developing project charter, and obtaining stakeholder approval
Manage project intake by conducting project effort estimate, prioritization against Book of Work, confirming project funding and planning resources capacity
Support project initiation including establishing project governance structure, resource planning, defining project roadmap, conducting project kickoff
2. Project Planning and Management:
Develop comprehensive project plans that outline scope, objectives, timelines, budgets, and resources
Define project success criteria and ensure alignment with business goals
Identify and manage project risks, issues, and dependencies
3. Execution and Delivery:
Lead the execution of data projects, ensuring adherence to project plans and timelines
Coordinate tasks, resources, and stakeholders to achieve project objectives
Monitor project progress and make adjustments as necessary to ensure successful completion
4. Stakeholder Management:
Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, ensuring clear and consistent communication
Facilitate stakeholder meetings, presentations, and status updates
Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure their needs are addressed
5. Team Leadership:
Lead and motivate project teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment
Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members based on their skills and expertise
Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to project team members
6. Quality Assurance:
Ensure that project deliverables meet quality standards and business requirements
Conduct regular quality reviews and implement corrective actions as needed
Ensure compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and regulations
7. Budget and Resource Management:
Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources
Track project expenses and ensure they remain within approved budgets
Optimize resource allocation to maximize project efficiency and effectiveness
8. Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices in project management
Conduct post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement
Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in data technologies and project management methodologies
Required Qualifications:
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Management, or a related field
Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, Agile) are advantageous
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of data management, data warehousing, and data analytics technologies
Familiarity with Cloud based big data technologies (e.g. SQL, Python, Spark, DataBricks, DataFactory, PowerBI, Fabric) and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud)
Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Project, JIRA, Confluence, Sharepoint)
Project Management Skills:
Proven track record of managing complex data projects, from initiation to closure.
Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Leadership and Interpersonal Skills:
Excellent leadership and team management abilities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels
Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with team members, stakeholders, and vendors
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:
Strong analytical skills to assess project performance and identify improvement opportunities
Ability to solve complex problems and make informed decisions under pressure
Business Acumen:
Understanding business objectives. Ability to align data projects with broader business goals
Value proposition with skill in articulating the business value of big data initiatives
Experience:
8+ years of experience in IT project management, with a focus on data projects
Demonstrated experience in leading and delivering successful data projects
Experience in agile project management methodologies is a plus
Experience with machine learning and data science projects is an advantage
Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements related to data privacy and security
Detail-minded individual with strong sense of responsibility and proactiveness who can work well under pressure and tight schedules
Proficiency in Cantonese and Mandarin is an advantage
Coordinate between multiple overseas teams
