The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Java development, a deep understanding of software architecture, and the ability to mentor junior developers. This role is crucial in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and secure Java-based solutions that meet the complex needs of the Defense Health Agency.   Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to: The Senior Java Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex Java applications within the MHS ecosystem. Key responsibilities include: Lead the design and implementation of robust, scalable Java applications using Java EE technologies and modern frameworks. Architect and develop high-performance, distributed systems that can handle large-scale data processing. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers, including code reviews and best practices guidance. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, proposing optimal technical solutions. Implement advanced security measures to protect sensitive healthcare data and ensure compliance with regulations. Optimize application performance, conduct thorough code reviews, and refactor code for improved efficiency. Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.
