What is the opportunity?

As a core member of the API development squad, you will have the opportunity to work with various business and technology stakeholders to help design best-inclass technical solutions. You will be responsible for building, testing and integrating mid-tier, RESTful APIs and micro-services for credit card applications with a focus on reliability, scalability and performance. You will also partner with the production support team to expedite production incident resolutions and problem management.

What will you do?

Develop and maintain APIs and all supporting code - design and build microservices

Utilize technologies like Java Spring boot, JMS, Elastic search, Redis, Swagger, and GitHub, etc.

Build reusable and fully tested (unit/integration/performance tests) code

Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability - design highly scalable and extensible products

Create estimates for given tasks/features - collaborate with other team members and stakeholders

Collaborate with interfacing application teams to design APIs and to achieve effective integration

Integrate partner products and RBC internal systems to provide seamless user experience

Evaluate new technologies/products and perform PoC, build MVP

Participate in peer code reviews to ensure reliable code changes going to production

Manage and support release activities in Prod/UAT/Pre Prod environments and support QA testing in QA/Pre Prod environments


What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:

University degree in Engineering or Computer Science

Minimum 5+ years of experience in designing, developing and maintaining modern microservices and APIs - experience in building mid-tier/APIs using Java, Spring boot.

Hands-on experience in Agile development methodologies, DevOps and Cloud based application development and deployment

Proficiency in using GitHub for source code repository; Maven and Jenkins for building CI/CD pipelines

Experience with Java micro services in Spring Cloud, Spring Boot and Spring WebFlux

Understanding of cloud platforms (PCF, Open Shift, Cloud Foundry, AWS)

Experience in building low-latency, high-availability and performant micro-services

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Nice to have:

Hands-on experience with tools such as Dynatrace Managed, MongoDB, Pager Duty, ServiceNow, Elastic, Logstash, Kibana, Redis, Kafka, Ansible, Docker

Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter, Contract Testing

Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD automation tools
