We’re seeking to hire an experienced candidate to help to advance the BlackBird platform creating a best in class, next generation product for our connectivity needs. The role will involve contribution to the global build-out, as well as maintaining a strong partnership with both internal and external stakeholders.This is a challenging and exciting opportunity to transform the connectivity landscape at Citi. It will involve working directly with internal and external partners to solve both business andtechnology problems with a direct measurable impact on the business.Key Responsibilities / Role:Understanding of good design principles and ability to adhere to complex designDevelopment of common, reusable components and services utilizing Citi’s best practicesResponsible for creating high performance, low latency applications leveraging existing Citi frameworksWorking with other core E-Trading teams to manage and support the application.Ensuring strong reliability, scalability and performance of the core Blackbird componentsLiaise with technical, business and quant teams to collaborate on identifying opportunities and solutionsExecute on our technical strategy for the platformCoordinate development with both internal technology teams and business/quantsDrive engineering standards and continue to strive for best in classKnowledge/Experience:Strong academic record, ideally with a Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science,Information Science, engineering or related technical or quantitative discipline.Demonstrable success in designing and delivering multi-tiered applicationsExtensive hand-on coding expertise in Core JavaStrong Software development fundamentals, data structures, design patterns, Object-Orientedprogramming, architecture, algorithms, and problem-solving skillsStrong focus on system performance tuning and experience with low latency Java programmingSolid understanding of service architecture and high performance, low latency, and multithreading techniquesExperience architecting and designing high performance server side components.At least 5+ years of experience using Java to develop service oriented applicationsPrior experience in building e-trading systems is highly desirableKnowledge of any Interest Rates or Futures financial products (e.g. bonds, interest rate swaps) is highly desirableTechnical skills include Java, Spring, TDD, KDB, FIX, and UNIX/LINUXCompetencies:Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to face off to business usersSelf-motivated individual and with determination to achieve goalsWillingness to learn, both technically and professionallyStrong analytical and problem solving skillsGood team working skills and ability to work in a distributed global team environmentAbility to work on a fast-pace environment; Flexible and able to deliver quality results in therequired timeframe
