Senior Lab Technologist Position Summary

The Senior Medical Technologist I is responsible, along with the supervisor and technical coordinator, for the daily oversight of the core laboratory. The Senior Medical Technologist will oversee workflow and operations of the laboratory in the absence of the supervisor or technical coordinator, and is responsible for meeting staffing needs, redirection of personnel to appropriate areas, and handling any scheduling issues. He/she participates in the educational and professional development of laboratory personnel, new employees and students, to include initial training, and provides feedback to supervisors to complete yearly competency assessments. He/she may assist in the review of quality control results, troubleshooting and maintenance logs, along with reviewing and reporting proficiency testing. The Senior Medical Technologist will assist in resolving technical problems discovered as part of monitoring test performance in accordance with policies and procedures established by the laboratory director or his/her designee, and may assist in the evaluation and correlation of test procedures, analyzers, and control material. Responsibilities may also include working on tasks and projects as assigned by and under the guidance of the Supervisor or Technical Coordinator.

Education

Requirements

2 year Associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) or 4 year Bachelors degree in Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or meets one of the eligibility requirements as listed with ASCP for certification as an MLT or MLS 

Experience

One year as Medical Technologist or two years for MLT.

At TidalHealth, team members working at least 36 hours per pay period based on 12-hour shift schedules or at least 37.5 hours for non 12-hour shift schedules and part-time team members working at least 30 hours or more on weekends only are eligible for benefits.
