Senior Laboratory Analyst

Eurofins Food and Water Testing New Zealand provides range of class leading food, water, plant, soil and  fertilizer testing, as well as horticultural services and technical solutions, primarily to the New Zealand market. With a staff of over 354 we operate laboratories in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin, Queenstown, Invercargill, Taupo and Hastings. We specialise in all Food types, Plants, Soils, Fertilizers, Potable Water, Sludge, Sediments, Leachate, Trade Waste Effluents, Sewage Effluents, Surface Water, River & Stream Monitoring, Seawater, and Groundwater.  We are currently seeking a Senior Laboratory Analyst to join our Dunedin team on a permanent full time basis. The main focus of this role is to work in our laboratory operations, . Key responsibilities of this position will include: + Perform routine analysis in an efficient and effective manner on all water samples coming into and passing through the laboratory. + Complete all quality control records in accordance with quality requirements and work instructions. + Carry out routine technical internal audits and assist the Quality Assurance Manager in any way + Perform operation, maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of equipment when required. + Participate in preparation and validation of Standards, Internal Reference Materials or other Quality Controls. + Set a good example regarding work ethics for other staff. + Identify and report quality issues/deviations and implement the corrective and preventative actions. + Help with the investigation of “out of specification” results or any other testing issues (e.g. retest required, equipment calibration failure etc.). + Contribute to the training and mentoring of Laboratory Technicians and Analysts in the tasks they are performing, as asked by the Team Leader / Manager / Business Unit Manager. + Contribute to the continuous improvement of their work area and processes, aiming for improved safety, quality, turn-around-time and efficiency. + Act in accordance with the Eurofins Code of Ethics and the Code of Conduct of the Business, and all other relevant policies and procedures, as updated from time to time.   + Attention to detail, and proficient computer skills are essential + Experience working within a commercial laboratory, preferably at a KTP level + Desire to continually learn and improve + Previous Supervisory experience preferable + Tertiary qualification in Science or equivalent qualification; or equivalent experience.  + At least two year’s laboratory experience; experience in a commercial laboratory will be an advantage. + Experience in using different equipment/instrumental and sample preparation techniques. + Full New Zealand drivers license + Technical knowledge in the relevant scientific discipline. + Good knowledge of standard office applications, especially MS Word and MS Excel.
