We're currently looking for a Senior Claims Leader to lead a team of examiners and large loss file handlers.

What you'll do:
Accountable for the leadership of a team of property file handlers including handling large loss claims and the delivery of the business unit outcomes including customer, people, and financial performance
Create an environment for people to do the best work of their lives & build capability across the team to support desired career progression along with meeting today and future business needs
Identify and improve system conditions and remove waste work that impact the service for our customers, the environment for our people and our financial performance
Create, re-engineer, optimize, introduce, enforce, and monitor current and proposed claims standards/best practices, risk and compliance standards, functional training curriculum content and functional claims project management
Identify and effectively manage the operational risks Aviva is exposed to because of the team’s output

Communicate effectively with confidence, curiosity, courage and in a collaborative manner creating a clear vision of the outcomes we require and how our people will contribute to achieve those.
Key Accountabilities:
Provide oversight and authority to ensure accurate indemnity spend on Aviva’s most complex and high-value property claims, with a significant focus on commercial claims
Responsible for all customer outcomes, financial performance and risk management of large loss files managed within the team
Identify new and emerging risks and through action eliminate, mitigate, or minimize. Understand, apply risk management controls proportionately and handle compliance. Monitor data to identify and report on any suspicions of fraud or financial irregularities
Performance management of team to close areas of opportunity and/or support them in their career development/progression and broader succession plans
Support and create alignment with other business units or teams e.g. recovery, underwriting, complaints, to name a few
Leverage data insights and the expertise of file handlers to identify opportunities to improve performance, customer experience and financial outcomes – while managing team capacity, capability and optimizing resources through creative, solution-orientated approaches.
Lead and inspire an engaged team while fostering a culture of ownership, agility, transparency, inclusion, curiosity, and respect
Lead change initiatives for the team
What you'll bring:
You have a post-secondary education and a CIP/FCIP designation.
An comprehensive understanding of end-to-end large loss property loss claims and use that knowledge to help your team to troubleshoot issues and build capability.
Previous leadership experience in the insurance industry is an asset.
Strong performance management skills and demonstrated ability to develop capability.
You have continuous improvement experience or have studied it.
You have excellent communication skills and can engage, advocate and influence others at all levels of the organization.
You are technically savvy and have experience as a large loss adjuster or large loss examiner.
You are an analytical problem solver and can use that ability to gain insight from data to improve the performance of your people
You are curious and creative
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
