Senior Lead Engineer, Hardware Design
Job Description As a Lead Hardware Design Engineer at a hardware design/manufacturing company, you will primarily focus on hardware, specifically network switch products. Your role involves extensive debugging activities rather than pure development, as you will be supporting the product life cycle of existing products. This position is customer-facing and may require you to visit customer sites on an as-needed basis. You should be prepared to travel up to 25% to the Bay Area, where the customers headquarters are located. In addition to your engineering responsibilities, you will also take on the role of a lab manager. Lab manager duties will occupy no more than 10% of your time and will include maintaining the lab facilities, installing equipment, and ensuring everything runs smoothly. The majority of your time will be spent in the lab, managing customer-related activities. If needed, you will provide backup support for other tasks. We can pay up to $100,000 to $125,000 based on years of experience. Skills and Requirements Minimum 10 years of hardware and electronic engineering experience 5-7 years of specific experience with networking, including routers and switches. Broad experience with power issues, signal integrity issues, and high-speed signals in networking. Proficiency with tools such as oscilloscopes, power meters, and soldering equipment. Strong written and spoken English skills. Ability to install software, including Linux, and proficiency in Python and scripting.
