A Operational Model
1 Evaluating and agreeing technical customer product requirements including normal conditions of use
2 Steering the creation of product system requirement specification based on the product use-cases in
alignment with subsystems and other domains
3 Owning full set of requirements, defines design across domains and ensures verification, manufacturing
feasibility and conformity to all legal requirements
4 Comprehensively ensuring the creation of functional and structural product System Architecture with
respect to product conformity and functional safety aspects
5 Leading the alignment w/ subsystems / Modules, definition and validation of interface specifications,
requirements break down and system integration as well as the team collaboration agreements
6 Driving the technical risk management approach (e.g. Product FMEA)
7 Steering the product configuration management and the system integration planning to assure the
product maturity development along the product engineering process and derive measures in terms of
deviations
8 Steering the Test Strategy of the product in alignment with the system integration planning
9 Assuring product functionality (incl. pushing ASIL conformity) against agreed requirements via testing
results
10 Defining and planning risk management along the product development and drives this input to support
the project manager
11 Focusing the cross functional alignment between all domains of a system and its components
 12Executing of escalation to Management Change Control Board (CCB) and/or steering committee
13 Responsible regarding first escalation and decision level to solve technical conflicts
14 The chief engineer is responsible for the technical Change Control and has the authority to decide
technical solutions if decision cannot be made on domain level
15 Aligning the decisions with PJM according to the effects on Quality, Costs, Time (QCT)
 16 Supporting project manager in terms of change management
17 Optimization and further development of the process environment for process and efficiency enhancement
