Job Description

As Senior Legal Counsel - Employment Law, you will provide legal advice to Rockwell Automation's Human Resources function and business leaders in different employment law matters.

You will be subject matter expert on issues related to employment law and HR compliance, and will counsel partners regarding matters arising throughout the employee life-cycle, including, for example, background checks, accommodations and leaves of absence, and discipline and termination decisions. You will also provide guidance in developing global and local strategies to support compliance and risk mitigation, including wage and hour, benefits, and federal contract compliance requirements. You will also conduct investigations into and draft responses to complaints of discrimination or non-compliance. You will be collaborative across multiple teams and departments to support HR compliance activities.

Your Responsibilities:Provide proactive counseling on employment law compliance, including daily advice on matters such as background checks, accommodation requests, discipline and discharge;Conduct investigations into allegations of discrimination or non-compliance;Draft responses to agency charges of discrimination and prepare submissions in response to government audits;Manage outside counsel in connection with federal court litigation;Revise policies and procedures regarding a variety of human resources and employment law topics;Monitor evolving employment laws globally, define required actions, and implement compliance programs;Be the legal counsel for Rockwell Automation's Human Resources function, understanding and supporting strategic goals and being a trusted advisor and partner in achieving these goals.

The Essentials - You Will Have:A Juris Doctorate degree or equivalent from an accredited law school (either U.S. or foreign jurisdiction) and all required licensing and credentials to serve as a practicing lawyer in Wisconsin.Admission in good standing to the bar of at least one state in the United StatesLegal authorization to work in the United States. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:Typically requires five years of law firm or in-house experience focused on employment law;Skills in drafting position statements in response to allegations of discrimination;Experience conducting investigations into employee complaints;Experience providing proactive counseling, regarding accommodations and discipline or termination decisions;Experience preparing affirmative action plans for federal contract compliance;Experience with employment aspects of mergers and acquisitionsExperience balancing risk with legal and business considerations;Uncompromising ethics.
