The PositionSenior Legal Counsel -- Roche Diagnostics Solutions (RDS) Core Lab - Suzhou, PRC
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced in-house lawyer to join our global team as soon as possible. You will be part of a globally networked team of legal professionals who support all aspects of product strategy, development and manufacturing for Roche Diagnostics in China, Switzerland, Germany and the United States as well as around the globe. You will provide legal services to multiple areas of our business, including applied research, product development and product lifecycle management, facilities, manufacturing, supply chain, and business development. This will include support for one or more leadership teams responsible for particular product areas within the business.
In addition, you will be responsible for all matters relating to and occurring at the Roche Diagnostics site in Suzhou, China, in close collaboration with the Roche Diagnostics Legal Team in Shanghai, PRC.
To be successful in this role, you must have the ability to assess and anticipate legal and business risks associated with complex projects and also possess a strong aptitude for learning new science and technologies. You should be able to communicate well-reasoned recommendations to senior executives and business stakeholders clearly and concisely. You should be comfortable with calibrating and advising on acceptable levels of risk commensurate with broader business objectives independently. You will be expected to structure, draft and negotiate a wide range of agreements and develop and recommend innovative solutions to complex legal and business issues.
Responsibilities
Support complex, international business projects employing considerable independent legal judgment, experience and analysis.
Provide strategic assistance and guidance on a variety of legal matters to assigned business groups.
Provide legal advice to a broad range of legal matters relating to and occurring at the Roche Diagnostics International Ltd site, including but not limited to corporate and strategic matters, communication with local authorities, Safety, Health and Environment related questions, construction and lease projects.
Contributing to the regular meetings of the Site Leadership Team of Roche Diagnostics International
Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, including co-development agreements, technology permits/licenses, software development agreements, supply agreements, research agreements, and service agreements.
Interact with colleagues across Roche globally, to determine compliant yet practical legal responses and planning to meet business needs.
Liaise between the global Legal/Business teams and the local Legal/Business teams in China
Qualification
Master degree in Law (MLaw, lic.iur.), admission to the bar in PRC
Fluency in English and Mandarin
Experience/Requirements
At least 7 years or more of professional experience in a multinational company or at a respected law firm, preferably in the life sciences industry (e.g. diagnostics, pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry).
Professional experience in handling cases in the fields of licensing, supply and distribution/sales as well as data privacy.
Good knowledge in the following areas of law: IP law, HGR law, IT/software law, litigation/dispute resolution, data privacy & CBDT (Cross Border Data Transfer), contract law etc.
International academic or work experience is a strong plus.
Strong team orientation and purpose driven.

Able to communicate clearly, convincingly and diplomatically.

Onboarding in Germany and Switzerland for few weeks
