Responsibilities
Senior legal advisor for Greater China (China, Hong Kong, Taiwan)
Execute with a high level of independence and minimal oversight, provide effective and strategic legal counsel to management and their teams in Greater China. Strong leadership and proactive partnership with business stakeholders, deliver legal advice with deep understanding of strategy, key customers, industry environment drivers as well as proactively address issues faced and opportunities presented to the businesses. Establish subject-matter expertise around key legal areas such as regulatory compliance, trade sanctions and controls, litigation strategy, intellectual property, and risk management. Proactively monitor upcomings laws and regulations, participate in advocacy around relevant laws/regulations that impact Goodyear, provide early strategic advice in anticipation of changes. Manage major disputes and litigation matters and develop effective strategies toward resolution Design and execute legal training programs tailored to business need and legal environment. Act as a legal representative of company to participate in external association (e.g. Automotive Associations), where applicable.Strategic projects
Lead and deliver effective legal service for major projects involving Great China and cross-border transactions. Advise on joint venture partnership considerations involving Greater China or other jurisdictionsCompliance
Ensure the company’s operations comply with policies, guidelines, compliance manuals of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, e.g. business code of conduct, antitrust compliance, Office of the Foreign Assets Control, Foreign Corrupt Practices, etc Proactive partnership with Compliance & Ethics team to drive compliance culture and establish mitigation measures, support investigations as required. Provide legal support to management and their teams in other jurisdictions in AP as needed. Manage and spearhead strategic plans of the APAC Legal Team in alignment with business objectives. Engage with APAC, EMEA, and Americas legal teams on relevant regional and/or Global legal trends, risk reas, and initiatives. Serve as mentor and provide guidance to junior members of APAC legal team.Required Experiences and Knowledges:
PRC law degree and a professional legal qualification. Fluent in Mandarin and English. 10+ years working experience at a multinational law firm, top tier Chinese law firm, and/or multinational company 3+ years experience advising multinational companies or matters Proven experience in general corporate and commercial issues in-house or in private practice. Multi-jurisdictional experience, familiarity in cross-border transactions and legal counseing a plus. Excellent legal and strategic judgment, coupled with strong business partnering and stakeholder management skills Solution-first mindset and problem-solving skills; prioritizing business-oriented and cost-efficient solutions. Highest level of interity and commitment to compliance and ethics.
