A leading global company based in London is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel, immediately available, with a strong background in oil, gas, and biofuels to join the legal team on a Contractual basis of £800per day.
Your expertise in these critical sectors will be invaluable as you navigate the complexities of the commodity trading lifecycle and make a significant impact on operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Review, draft, and negotiate various energy commodity trading agreements, including sale and purchase agreements and storage contracts. Provide legal advice and support on recurrent trading issues and assist in resolving trading and non-trading disputes. Collaborate with credit and KYC teams on parent company guarantees, NDAs, and letters of credit. Assist origination teams with bespoke documentation and explore new business areas such as carbon trading. Advise on sanctions and compliance clauses within agreements, demonstrating a solid understanding of international trade sanctions. Offer general legal support in corporate governance, UK commercial regulation, and insurance matters. Experience in shipping contracts and litigation is a plus, but not essential.
Ideal Profile:
Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in a law firm or in-house, focusing on trading and shipping. Proven track record in the energy sector, particularly in oil, gas, and biofuels, showcasing your ability to effectively address commodity trading issues. Shipping or transportation experience is advantageous but not required.
