About the Role

Ensure all legal needs of the pension business are addressed by providing sound and practical legal advice on matters arising from the pensions business and operations of the Company.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Legal Support

Lead the legal support for the pensions business including legal advise on day to day matters as well as project delivery.  In particular, this role is responsible for: 

legal support in the planning and execution of business initiatives/ operations;legal analysis on questions arising from daily operations;providing legal input into projects, and occasionally leading project delivery;participation in committees/ task forces to ensure compliance with the applicable regulations, professional conduct rules and guidelines of the relevant regulators;participation in department and team meetings/ Board meetings for good corporate governance;performing legal research; drafting and reviewing legal documentation;instructing external counsel within or outside Hong Kong;working closely with Local Compliance and Risk Management teams on risk, regulatory and compliance related matters;supporting the pension, operations and business initiatives of Hong Kong and Macau Branches.

Legal Services Management

Support the legal function to deliver high quality and cost-effective legal services.

Advises the Company on legal/ regulatory issues and engages external counsel to advise on major legal issues.Communicates frequently with supervisor to ensure alignment of Group Law’s legal and regulatory policies and ensures such policies are properly executed.Liaises with Group Legal Team with respect to the implementation of Group-led legal and regulatory policies and group projects.

Other Responsibilities

Performs other responsibilities and duties as periodically assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Graduate of LLB/Bachelor of Law and admitted to practice Law in Hong Kong as a solicitor or counsel.Minimum 6 years post-qualification experience (PQE) with a leading law firm or in an in-house legal position. Experience relating to pensions, funds management/ asset management or in the insurance or financial services. Strong corporate experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating various legal agreements. Command of written and spoken English and Chinese.Excellent presentation skills and inter-personnel skills.Excellent communication skills and project management skills.Possess business acumen, be innovative but detail-oriented and self-driven.Ability to work independently and as a team player for the assigned job responsibilities.Ability to deal with and handle multiple and changing priorities.Required to obtain relevant licence if your job involves in regulated activities.
