Senior Legal Counsel - Vendor and Provider Contracting | Remote

This position is an in-house Counsel position that will assist in advancing the important business objectives, interests and image of the company through various activities, with a focus on vendor/supplier contracting. The ideal candidate will have Medicaid and/or Medicare managed care subject matter knowledge and an ability to develop an understanding of the business and operational goals of assigned internal clients, proactively advise business partners on a wide variety of matters, and work collaboratively with other attorneys on matters related to legal and regulatory compliance. **The position requires:** • Strong and proven contract negotiation and drafting skills. • Skilled in all manner of IT contracts, including Cloud, Development, On Premises Software Licenses, and Maintenance and Support. • Deep experience working on vendor and other third-party service agreements together with the company’s Corporate Sourcing / Procurement department in healthcare regulated industry. • Advising the business on a broad range of legal, regulatory, and compliance issues, to mitigate risks associated with the company’s Medicaid, Medicare, and Exchange product lines. • Keeping up to date and advising on the potential impact of new and proposed healthcare laws and regulations to ensure continued compliance. • General understanding of HIPAA and data privacy and security issues. • Experience with managed care and Medicare and Medicaid regulatory requirements preferred. • Experience drafting, reviewing, and analyzing provider agreements • Identifying business and legal risks and working with the business to provide solutions that balance legal issues and business objectives. Demonstrated ability to think strategically when balancing business needs with legal risks while delivering high quality and timely legal services. • Operating with a high degree of independence. • Strong attention to detail, as well as effective communication, listening and drafting skills are critical for this role. • Executive presentation skills to brief senior business leadership on legal risks in engagements. • Ability to handle a high volume of contracts. **Education/Experience:** • Licensed to practice law in at least one state. • Ability to obtain Pennsylvania In-House Counsel License, if licensed outside of Pennsylvania. • 8+ years of experience in the legal field as an attorney, reviewing, drafting, and implementing contracts. • Experience as an in-house counsel in the health care industry preferred. • Prior managed care experience. **Other Skills:** • Demonstrated analytical skills and strong legal project management and facilitation skills. • Strong ability to provide risk assessment/risk mitigation support and strong negotiation skills. • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, provide leadership, influence organization behavior and create alignment across organizational lines. • Excellent written and oral communication skills, and the personal presence, credibility, and the professional demeanor necessary to interact with company management, regulatory bodies, and business units with persuasiveness and confidence. • Collaborative team player with an ability to effectively manage competing priorities. • Ready, willing and able to assist with new needs and comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity. • Excellent judgment and the ability to prioritize, juggle competing matters and make difficult decisions quickly. **Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion** At AmeriHealth Caritas, everyone can feel valued, supported, and comfortable to be themselves.
