Senior Legal Fellow/Acting Director of the International Transactions Clinic (ITC)

NYU Law’s Grunin Center for Law and Social Entrepreneurship (http://www.law.nyu.edu/centers/grunin-social-entrepreneurship) seeks to hire a full-time Grunin Center Senior Legal Fellow/Acting Director of the International Transactions Clinic (ITC) who will advance the mission of the Grunin Center by leading the International Transactions Clinic at NYU Law and supporting other initiatives of the Grunin Center as it works in the in the fields of social entrepreneurship, impact investing, and sustainable development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Grunin Center’s Senior Legal Fellow/Acting Director of the ITC would engage in the following activities supporting the work and mission of the Grunin Center, including:
1. Leading the International Transactions Clinic (ITC) as its acting director in the following capacities:
+ + Supervising the fieldwork of law students enrolled in the ITC;
+ Leading seminars and managing the seminar portion of the ITC (including identifying and scheduling guest speakers);
+ Coordinating and shadowing supervisory support provided by the ITC’s pro bono, adjunct supervising attorneys and collaborating law firms;
+ Assessing student performance in course assignments;
+ Identifying and recruiting new clients for the ITC’s fieldwork;
+ Selecting students for enrollment in the ITC;
+ Administering and supporting the ITC’s role as part of Washington Square Legal Services.
2. Conducting legal scholarship (publishing scholarship in the fields of social entrepreneurship, impact investing or sustainable development is encouraged);
3. Contributing to the execution of the strategic plan of the Grunin Center;
4. Supporting convenings of the Grunin Center and assisting in the judging of the Grunin Prize Annual Award;
5. Engaging in such other NYU Law activities and centers as agreed from time to time.
This is a full-time position with a requested commitment of at least two academic years.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary for this position is $130,000 - $150,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

ABOUT THE GRUNIN CENTER
The Grunin Center for Law and Social Entrepreneurship is the first center of its kind at a law school.
The mission of the Grunin Center is to enhance the community of lawyers and legal institutions purposefully engaged in social entrepreneurship, impact investing, and sustainable development, and to accelerate their effective participation in these fields. The Grunin Center is uniquely positioned to bridge the gaps between legal practitioners, scholars, educators, and law students.
The Center:
Educates students and lawyers about legal issues in the fields of social entrepreneurship, impact investing, and sustainable development;
Leads path-breaking conversations (in person, in social media, and on the page) and provides thought leadership about how legal innovations and new approaches to law, policy, and legal education can advance the fields of social entrepreneurship, impact investing, and sustainable development;
Invests in the success of students who are interested in applying their legal skills to the fields of social entrepreneurship, impact investing, and sustainable development by, among other things, supporting extra-curricular activities, providing research and fellowship opportunities, and awarding scholarships and internships related to these fields; and
Celebrates the contributions of legal practitioners, scholars, and students to the fields of social entrepreneurship, impact investing, and sustainable development by drawing attention to their contributions and distilling and sharing learnings from those contributions with others working in these fields.
Required Education:
JD from accredited US law school.
Required Experience, Skills, and Abilities:
A qualified applicant will possess the following experience, skills and abilities:
+ At least 7 years of experience in practicing business/transactional law and conducting cross-border deals in emerging markets
+ Demonstrable experience in coaching/mentoring legal professionals (experience in mentoring/coaching lawyers in early years of their careers is highly valued)
+ Experience in teaching or participating as a law student in experiential education opportunities (experience in teaching or participating in transactional/business clinic is highly valued)
+ Experience in the fields of social entrepreneurship, impact investing or sustainable development
+ Licensed to practice law in New York State
