About the role
An exciting fixed-term contract role has arisen for a Senior Legal Taxonomist (UK) to join our global Taxonomies and Lexicons team. The fixed term contract will run for 1 year with the possibility of extension or conversion to a permanent position.
This role will focus on ensuring that the UK legal taxonomy is developed and maintained effectively for UK Lexis+ in collaboration with internal Professional Support lawyers and other subject matter experts across over 50 practical guidance and research practice areas to meet all customer and product needs.
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain topic hierarchies for legal and tax practice areas.
Conduct legal research to define the scope and breadth of legal topics.
Create and maintain classification rules for our Lexis+ corpus.
Collaborate with internal experts to identify opportunities for taxonomy expansion.
Enhance the quality of Current Awareness and legal news alerts.
Apply AI capabilities to develop innovative methods of identifying and classifying legal topics.
Collaborate with global taxonomy teams to develop and apply best practices.
Requirements:
Broad knowledge of legal content and concepts across multiple practice areas.
Qualification as a solicitor, barrister, or equivalent tax qualification, or a professional qualification in Librarianship with substantial law library experience.
Experience in tax law or taxation issues is advantageous.
Strong collaborative, negotiating, and influencing skills.
Ability to organize legal information in a clear and intuitive way.
Technical ability and aptitude for learning proprietary taxonomy management systems.
Attention to detail and sensitivity to language nuances.
Good communication skills and experience with Agile methodologies.
