Senior Lifecycle Assessment (LCA) Practitioner
UL Solutions is seeking a Senior Lifecycle Assessment (LCA) Practitioner to support UL Solutions LCA services. You will help advance customer product or system environmental impacts in a transparent manner. You will develop full LCA’s per ISO Standards 14040 and ISO 14044, including data management, comparative analytics, reporting, third party reviews and/or reduction strategies. You will have a global perspective and current knowledge of LCA standards and methodologies, comparative analytics, regulatory and voluntary drivers, reduction strategies and a vision of where LCA will ‘go next’. This exciting opportunity offers the chance to contribute to UL Solutions expanding LCA services team and services, engage with the broad UL Solutions teams across the world and external working groups seeking in the LCA community. + Perform full LCA technical service to project manage full LCA scope per ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 to ensure compliance, transparency, clarity and readiness of the LCA process for third party critical review. + Ability to manage complex projects and interact with leadership and global colleagues. + Exceptional analytical and communication skillset enabling clear results communicated and knowledge transfer to various stakeholders. + Provide a data-driven foundation based on LCA results for decision-making in both strategy and production levels. + Maintain current knowledge base to perform LCA as a practitioner and associated product level services (PCF, EPD, Optimization) including ISO 14040, ISO 14044, ISO 15804, ISO 14025, ISO 14067, EN15804+A1+A2, ISO21930, WCSBD (PACT) and other standards and frameworks for product and system level LCA services. + Able to work directly with clients to obtain and analyze complex primary datasets and gaps. Provide thought leadership to the UL Solutions expanding software capabilities to ensure data accuracy, comparability and quality. + Contribute to Product Category Rule (PCR) panels as needed by UL Solutions and the UL non-profit entity UL Standards and Engagement (UL S&E). Minimum Qualifications + Language requirement: Fluent in Mandarin and English + Bachelors or Master’s Degree in scientific discipline or engineering + 5-7+ years of professional experience in a position requiring Senior Level LCA modeling and work involving extensive quantitative data analysis + Solid experience analyzing both experimental and modeled data sets + Solid understanding of LCA models including SimaPro, Gabi, OpenLCA, Excel based GREET and/or Python with the ability to project manage from client data compilation through LCA, reporting and collaboration with external verifiers + Experience in LCA related services including Product Carbon Footprint (PCF), Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) and standards language + Expansive knowledge of secondary datasets, e.g. TRACI, EcoInvent, etc. Preferred Qualifications + Qualified Engineering or LCA Practitoner Certification + Knowledge of Corporate Sustainability and/or Environmental Social Governance (ESG) reporting frameworks, including regulatory frameworks relative to Scope 3 + Proficiency in programming in Python for models, algorithms, and code reviews + Deep expertise in lifecycle assessment, engineering, atmospheric chemistry, environmental science, and/or computational sustainability + Working knowledge in machine learning and artificial intelligence + Peer reviewed published research work as articles or technical reports in academic conferences or industry circles A global leader in applied safety science, UL Solutions (NYSE: ULS) transforms safety, security and sustainability challenges into opportunities for customers in more than 110 countries.
