Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a Senior Linux Administrator to support the IT program at a major national laboratory. In this position you will work with a team that provides computing capabilities and in-depth support for scientific and engineering applications. The team builds and maintains user environments, delivers subject matter expert support, and application-level software and tools to the scientific and engineering communities.
Responsibilities Perform Linux Administration dutiesPerform installations and patching of Linux operating systemsAssist customers with the installation and updates of applicationsInstall software and troubleshoot software install issuesMonitor systems and preform hardware troubleshooting, tracking, resolution, and routine maintenance and security updatesPerform system backups and provide data recoveryTo accomplish this, you will need an extensive background in Linux server administration and issue resolution along with strong hardware/software troubleshooting skills. Experience with Bash shell scripting. Experience/knowledge working with Containers. And finally, knowledge and understanding of best practices and IT operations.
Qualifications BS/BA degree with a minimum two years’ experience with Linux administration and troubleshooting. Certificates can assist in offsetting experience requirements.In lieu of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience is applicable.U.S. Citizenship is required per contract to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy Q clearance.Minimum two years’ experience with Linux (RedHat or Ubuntu) and are capable of OS installation, network configuration, and package/patch management.Experience with creating, running, and managing Ansible playbooks.Proven track record of problem solving using strong critical thinking, analytical and troubleshooting skills.Strong technical aptitude and ability to research and solve complex issues independentlyWorking knowledge and experience with bash shell scripting and other languages (Python, Perl, or Ruby)Experience in another IT field, such as Storage, Networking, Databases, or Cyber SecurityAbility to work seamlessly within a team as an active contributor.Strong verbal and written customer service and communications skillsKnowledge of, and desire to follow IT Operations best practices and procedures such as issue management and incident responseFamiliar with information security best practicesAbout Us:
