Senior Litigations Paralegal
The purpose of this position is to provide support to the Legal Department on certain contracts, governmental filings, legal research, data base setup and maintenance and related matters, and to coordinate or manage individual projects. **This position follows a hybrid work schedule. Employees are required to be in the office three (3) days per week.** **JOB RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES BY COMPETENCY** **Functional Expertise:** + Prepares, under attorney supervision, non-disclosure agreements, municipal franchise ordinances and other agreements. + Process incoming subpoenas, collect responsive information and prepare submissions. + Coordinate and conduct internal investigations and discovery responses. + Administers process of assigning incoming miscellaneous contracts for legal review (eg. supply chain contracts). + Manages invoice processing and payment for outside legal services using Company-approved software applications and applying departmental guidelines. + Assists attorneys with annual budget submissions. + Performs legal research; summarizes research and/or findings. **Business Acumen:** + Understands procedures for preparation and submission of certain court and regulatory filings and coordinates associated information gathering with other internal departments. + Understands Thomspon Reuters Legal Tracker billing system and department billing guidelines. + Understands how to perform legal research. **Engagement:** + Communicates with outside legal counsel regarding certain litigations matters with respect to document gathering and scheduling. + Communicates with local courts regarding certain filings. + Engages management in various internal departments in processing contracts. **Driving Results:** + Responsible for processing maintaining Thomspon Reuters Legal Tracker billing system. + Responsible for submission of certain court filings. **QUALIFICATIONS** **Education, Certifications/Licenses:** **Required:** + Associates Degree or BA/BS degree in legal, business, economics, or similar fields, or equivalent work experience. + Paralegal certification. **Related Work Experience:** **Required:** + 3 years’ experience in a law firm or corporate legal department experience. **Specific Skills& Knowledge:** **Required:** + Research skills. + Project management. + Computer skills - intermediate proficiency. + Interpersonal skills. **Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:** + Keyboarding = Constant 67-100% + On-Call = None + Out of town travel = None **About Southern Company Gas** Southern Company Gas is a wholly owned subsidiary of Atlanta-based Southern Company (NYSE:SO), America’s premier energy company.
