Senior LVT Director of Surgery Services, Surgical Ambulatory Care & Anesthesia
The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center (AMC), located in the heart of New York City, seeks a Senior LVT Director of Surgery Services, Surgical Ambulatory Care & Anesthesia. The Senior Director of Surgery Services, Surgical Ambulatory Care & Anesthesia is part of the hospital clinical services team and leads the organization, direction, management and evaluation of patient care services for the Surgical Ambulatory, Surgical Service areas and the Anesthesia Department. Duties and Responsibilities: + Responsible for the clinical, operational and financial management of the surgical services departments including the anesthesia department + Develops action plans and reports outcomes to the Chief Veterinary Technician + Budgetary or fiscal accountability and is responsible for the ongoing effective operation of units + Partners with the hospital’s leadership team to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, staff development and career ladders to ensure compliance with national standards and state regulatory requirements + Provides input to strategic decisions relating to clinical patient care + Monitors operations of assigned hospital departments such as patient/LVT ratios and level of patient care to improve the day-to-day operations + Mentors and guides hospital LVT Managers, Team Leaders, Lead Technicians and Administrator-On-Duty to ensure excellence in hospital’s functionality + Act as a liaison between clinical staff and Department Heads, Service Heads and Senior Veterinarians + Responsible for the overall supervision of OR staff, PACU, Central Sterile and Pre-Op/Ambulatory Care + Accountable for the operational, efficiency and throughput including quality metrics for service areas as determined by the CMO, CEO & CVT + Ensure compliance with all accrediting agencies + Must have strong knowledge of all aspects of Operating Room Services and patient throughput including scheduling, operating room, surgical equipment, ambulatory surgery, endoscopy, pain management, anesthesia, PACU, OR and central sterile processing and other areas as applicable + Performs responsibilities in accordance with hospital goals, objectives, policies and procedures + Commitment to excellent customer service + Act as Chief Veterinary Technician as needed + Other related projects and duties as assigned Qualifications + Current NYS Veterinary Technician Licensure required, VTS preferred + 5 years supervisory/management experience required + 5-7 years Veterinary Surgical Nursing Experience + Bachelor’s Degree preferred Reporting Responsibilities: Reports to : Chief Veterinary Technician Direct Reports : LVT Director of Surgery, Anesthesia Service staff and Anesthesia LVTs Benefits + Competitive salary + Generous sign-on bonus + Four-day work week + Comprehensive benefits including health insurance with medical, dental, and vision benefits, very generous paid time off, paid continuing education time-off and stipend, and 403-b retirement plan with employer contribution. + Possibility of housing in an AMC apartment building or assistance to find housing + School loan debt forgiveness opportunity as a non-profit hospital + Non-corporate practice with no pressure for percentage pay + Collegial work with colleagues in a non-competitive structure with strong teaching and mentoring opportunities as well as opportunities for research Pay Range $135,000 — $155,000 USD Excellence in veterinary medicine since 1910.
