We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mainframe Developer with a deep understanding of the insurance industry to join our development team. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise in mainframe technologies (COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, SQL Server, etc.) and have a proven track record in delivering solutions tailored to the unique needs of the insurance domain. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams, manage multiple projects, and contribute to the ongoing success of key initiatives while ensuring high-quality, detailed, and reliable solutions.
Mainframe Application Development:
• Design, develop, and maintain mainframe-based applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and CICS.
• Create and optimize batch and online systems to support insurance applications, ensuring high availability, reliability, and performance.
• Develop and implement complex SQL queries and stored procedures within DB2 and SQL Server environments.
• Work with FileAid, SPUFI, and other debugging tools for troubleshooting, testing, and optimizing code.
Insurance Industry Solutions:
• Leverage insurance industry domain knowledge to develop solutions that meet business requirements.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand specific needs within the insurance sector and translate them into technical requirements.
• Ensure the application designs are scalable, flexible, and compliant with insurance industry regulations and standards.
System Integration & Modernization:
• Contribute to the integration of legacy systems with modern technologies, such as web-based interfaces and APIs.
• Support the modernization of mainframe applications where applicable, ensuring smooth transition and minimal business disruption.
• Work with tools like Liberty WebSphere and AS400 to facilitate integration with external applications or services.
Project Management & Collaboration:
• Lead and manage multiple mainframe development projects, ensuring timely delivery, quality, and adherence to requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including business analysts, quality assurance, and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth project execution.
• Monitor project progress and provide regular status updates to stakeholders and leadership teams.
• Promote best practices in mainframe development, testing, and deployment, ensuring high standards of code quality and maintainability.
Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing:
• Act as a mentor and leader within the development team, providing guidance and support to junior developers.
• Share knowledge and expertise on mainframe technologies, insurance industry practices, and solution development.
• Assist in creating and maintaining internal documentation, including technical specifications, user guides, and troubleshooting resources.
Testing & Quality Assurance:
• Ensure rigorous testing of all developed solutions, including functional, regression, and performance testing.
• Work closely with QA teams to ensure the quality and reliability of the code delivered to production.
• Address and resolve any production issues related to the mainframe applications in a timely manner.
Experience :
• 5+ years of experience in mainframe application development, with a strong focus on COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and CICS.
• Proven experience in developing and supporting insurance industry solutions, with a deep understanding of domain-specific needs and processes (e.g., policy management, claims, underwriting, etc.).
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server, FileAid, SPUFI, and other mainframe development and debugging tools.
Technical Skills:
• Expertise in developing and maintaining COBOL programs and handling complex batch and online systems.
• Proficient in DB2 database management, including database design, SQL queries, stored procedures, and performance tuning.
• Familiarity with Liberty WebSphere and AS400 for system integration.
• Experience with modernizing and integrating mainframe applications with modern web technologies and APIs.
• Experience in c/c++ will be an advantage.
Project Management:
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of agile methodologies and experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver quality solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Familiarity with Agile frameworks (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and DevOps practices.
• Industry certifications related to mainframe technologies, project management, or insurance domains.
