The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is seeking a Senior Maintenance Craftsman to join our Southwest Regional team in Nampa. The individual selected for this position will be responsible for conducting maintenance on Department operated fishing and boating access sites, campgrounds, dam structures and wildlife management areas, facility maintenance at the regional office, and assisting in periodic habitat restoration on department properties.

General Information:
+ Incumbents, with or without reasonable accommodations, must be capable of lifting and carrying 90+lbs., bending, stooping, shoveling, and climbing ladders, and work in adverse weather conditions.
+ The work schedule is 40 hours per week (Typically four 10-hour days.)
+ Some overnight and day travel within the McCall subregion will be required
+ This position is expected to have or be willing to obtain a Class A CDL with Combination Vehicle and Air Brake endorsements within the one year of employment. For positions requiring a CDL, incumbents must pass a pre-employment-controlled substance screening test. Once a CDL is obtained, the employee is required to participate in the Department's drug/alcohol testing program and comply with all of its provisions through their duration of employment with the agency.
+ This position is expected to have or be willing to obtain Idaho Pesticide Applicators Permit by passing the Applicator Core Competency (CO) and Right-of-Way Herbicide (RW) certificate within six months of employment and aquatic weed and pest control (AP) certificate in the first year. Once permits are obtained employee will need to maintain licenses and permits to maintain certifications.
Responsibilities:
+ Conduct repairs, oversees contracted projects and provide preventive maintenance on fishing and boating sportsman access sites with roads, structures, ramps, buildings, campgrounds, dam infrastructure and docks
+ Performs and/or coordinates maintenance and repair of Southwest Regional Office facilities and equipment
+ Project management and coordination of site or facility development and improvement projects at department properties
+ Collaborate with other state, county, or local agencies, contractors, volunteer groups, and private property owners
+ Routinely interact with hunters, anglers, and other users of Department sites during daily activities
+ Assist and coordinate volunteer groups and/or Supervised Inmate Labor Detail (SILD)
+ Operate and maintain equipment (Backhoe, skid steer, mini excavator, dump truck, truck and trailer non CDL)
+ Design, repair, and fabricate parts using welders and power tools
+ Function as lead worker over maintenance staff and assist with related trade duties
+ Build, set forms, and finishes concrete
+ Build fences and gates
+ Document site use, needed repairs, replacing and installing signage.
+ Operate and maintain all power tools and small equipment associated with work tasks
+ Preform mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance of fleet equipment (trucks, trailers and implements).
+ Keeping detailed records and files using computer software
Minimum Qualifications: (These qual ifications are required.)
+ Good knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical and general building maintenance (Typically gained by successful completion of vocational technical training as described above OR at least two years of professional work experience covering all the areas described above.)
+ Some knowledge of HVAC and mechanical systems maintenance (Typically gained by formal training/education specific to HVAC systems OR approximately six months of (supervised) professional work experience performing routine HVAC maintenance. Performing limited HVAC maintenance on an occasional basis or home maintenance is not qualifying.)
+ Some knowledge of building codes (Typically gained by completion of formal training, such as in a vocational technical school OR at least two years of professional work experience.)
+ Experience performing skilled carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and building maintenance repair (Typically gained by completion of formal training, such as in a vocational technical school OR at least two years of professional work experience performing skilled carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and building maintenance repair.)
+ Experience using and maintaining tools and equipment normally associated with carpentry, mechanics, plumbing, and electrical work (Typically gained by completion of formal training, such as in a vocational technical school OR at least two years of professional experience using and maintaining tools and equipment normally associated with carpentry, mechanics, plumbing, and electrical work.)
+ Experience reading blueprints and schematics (Typically gained by completion of formal training, such as in a vocational technical school OR at least two years professional work experience reading blueprints and schematics of buildings.)
The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of operating and maintaining a diverse range of equipment, including heavy machinery, fleet trucks, and small tools. Additionally, knowledge of facilities maintenance and experience managing or coordinating projects to successful completion is highly desirable. Candidates with this expertise may receive additional consideration at time of the interviews.
