Job Description

The NBCUniversal Global Advertising and Partnerships division is looking for a Senior Manager, Applied Science to join the growing Measurement & Data Collaboration team.

The key objective of the Measurement & Data Collaboration team is to develop products that support data collaboration between NBCU and its partners, including measurement partners, clients, agencies, and business partners. The product team is dedicated to building innovative, scalable tools for experimentation, measurement, and optimization, fully integrated into NBCUniversal’s advertising tech stack. These solutions empower advertisers to measure and optimize their media strategies across NBCU’s platforms, driving data-informed decision-making and outcomes-based performance.

As an Applied Scientist on the Measurement & Data Collaboration team, you will lead the design, development, and integration of cutting-edge tools for experimentation, measurement, and optimization. Collaborating closely with product, engineering, and data science teams, you will deliver production-ready solutions that shape NBCU’s advertising products and make a measurable impact on media performance. 

Responsibilities:

Feature Development and Enhancements

Design, develop, and enhance features for the product suite, ensuring scalability and seamless integration into NBCU’s advertising tech stack.Work closely with product managers and engineering teams to define requirements and prioritize features that align with business goals and advertiser needs.

Experimentation Platform Development

Lead the creation of experimentation frameworks (e.g. A/B testing, holdout testing, and incrementality) to enable advertisers to measure and optimize campaign performance.Automate workflows for experimentation, including setup, execution, and reporting, to ensure efficiency and consistency across use cases.

Measurement Solutions

Build and refine methodologies for attribution, reach and frequency analysis, and campaign performance measurement, integrating them into client-facing platforms.

Optimization Integration

Design and implement optimization algorithms (e.g., reinforcement learning, Thompson Sampling) to improve audience targeting, budget allocation, and campaign performance.Apply MLOps principles to ensure optimization tools are scalable, reliable, and seamlessly deployable into production environments.

Identity Solutions

Integrate identity graphs and deterministic/probabilistic matching techniques into measurement workflows to enhance the reliability and accuracy of solutions.

Product Development and Agile Practices

Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, and code reviews, to ensure timely delivery of features and enhancements.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to uphold high standards for software development, testing, and deployment.

Qualifications

Additional Qualifications:

5+ years of experience in data science, measurement, or software development, with a focus on client-facing analytics tools or platforms in advertising or media.Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.Proficiency in Python and SQL for model development and production workflows.Experience with software development practices, including version control (e.g., GitHub), CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing.Familiarity with agile development processes, including sprint planning and backlog refinement.Expertise in designing and implementing experimentation frameworks, such as A/B testing, holdout designs, and incrementality experiments.Strong understanding of optimization techniques, such as reinforcement learning or uplift modeling, and their application in production systems.Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.

Highly Desired Qualities:

Familiarity with identity solutions, including identity graphs and deterministic/probabilistic matching.Experience working with advertising technology platforms.Familiarity with clean room platforms and privacy-enhancing technologies.Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.A proactive mindset, with adaptability to evolving business needs and a passion for innovation.

Additional Requirements:

Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United StatesHybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week. Monday and Friday virtual, Tuesday - Thursday on-site from our New York City office with flexibility to adjust as business needs dictate.Salary range: $115,000 - $165,000 (bonus eligible)This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
