The Sr. Manager of Sourcing and Category Management is a strategic role that continually assesses business needs, financials and the supplier and service provider market to determine the best options and sources of supply for the organization. This individual must also be an effective change agent, working with senior leadership within the business to drive enduring changes to how the organization manages third-party spend and supplier relationships. In this role, the individual will regularly interact with key business leaders to balance cost, risk and speed in order to ensure that the business is able to realize its objectives.
Role Responsibilities
Leading a small team of mid-level and junior sourcing and procurement resources to ensure successful execution of category plans and sourcing strategies. Lead sourcing and category management for hardware, software, telecommunications, data center, SaaS, and a variety of technology products, aligning strategies with business unit needs. Develop, through a collaborative and inclusive approach, a global category sourcing strategy that delivers against corporate strategy priorities and translates business imperatives into effective procurement plans. Identify and evaluate the best options for supply, which may include acquisition of products, outsourcing or insourcing, or other alternatives such as joint ventures, brokering vendor partnerships or potential acquisitions. Engage the business to understand business drivers, risk appetite and environmental factors that influence the development and maintenance of the sourcing strategy. Keeping abreast of industry trends that have an impact on the sourcing strategy, through good working relationships with existing and potential third parties. Review, manage and approve a comprehensive list of best-in-class suppliers for bid processes developed by analyzing industry trends and competitive positioning to ensure engagement and leverage of the most effective supply base. Lead key large scale and complex negotiations to develop cost savings and optimal contract terms.Role Requirements
7-10 years of category management business experience. Experienced in negotiating contracts, supplier management, and identifying cost-saving opportunities across diverse technology categories. A bachelor's degree in business or other management discipline and/or certification by purchasing and supply chain professional bodies, such as the Institute for Supply Management (ISM), the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS), or Certified Professional Strategic Advisor, Category Management Certification is preferred. Demonstrated leadership, including team leadership and organizational skills, in a cross-cultural environment. Current knowledge of the global product and service market and its trends. Knowledge of the sources of data and analytics to support the development and execution of sourcing strategies. Salary
The base salary range is $155,000 – $165,000 USD per year, total on target compensation includes a base salary and short-term and long-term incentives that align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on candidates’ qualifications, skills, and competencies.
