Vehicle Mechatronics Embedded Controls (VMEC) is responsible for designing, developing, and deploying the embedded controls and software for all vehicle systems and components that manage vehicle motion, occupant access, position, protection, vision & visibility, and comfort.
The Chassis Controls Senior Manager will be the Engineering Lead for various chassis controls products and lead the teams responsible for end-to-end inhouse and outsourced solutions, including requirements development, controls design, software implementation, calibration, verification/validation, release, and deployment. This position will also serve as the ART Champion of applicable Chassis Controls ART(s).
In this people leader role, you will lead several Engineering Group Managers and develop talent throughout the organization. Your technical leadership will be at the strategic direction level with responsibilities for execution. You will help develop and lead strategic action plans to support business goals for our inclusive future with industry-leading chassis controls performance that elevate our customer’s driving experience.

Job Responsibilities:
Provide leadership to:
Lead centralized vehicle motion supervisory controls architecture with industry-leading level of cross-domain integration and performance optimization
Drive industry standardization to enable HW/SW decoupling
Lead & align technology roadmaps across ARTs & Value Streams related to chassis controls products
Lead execution of chassis controls products across different electrical architectures (e.g. VIP & SDV2.0)
Develop open innovation pathways, including ability for outsourced software to be integrated into GM supervisory controls ecosystem
Enable self-organizing, empowered teams to deliver product on-time with quality executions within an agile framework. Drive discipline to on-time execution, dealing with ambiguity and strategically pivoting with resiliency.
Collaborate with Product Team leadership as the Engineering Lead and ART Champion of chassis controls ARTs
Provide visionary leadership in the development and execution of controls, software and calibration strategies that are aligned with the GM's vision and strategy
Enable self-organizing, empowered teams to deliver product on-time with quality executions in an agile framework
Foster an environment for high-performing team dynamics, continuous flow, and relentless improvement
Implement and support agile principles and practices, identifying and eliminating impediments, and facilitating flow
Provide lean-agile leadership while working across VMEC and collaborating with other Software and Services organizations to establish and execute plans
Mentor, coach, and develop employees and their careers
Establish and monitor budget for responsible activities
Execute resource planning for required activities

Engage with suppliers and bundled service partners to ensure alignment and execution of deliverables, handling escalations autonomously
Additional Job DescriptionMinimum Required Skills and Experiences:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering to include Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Mathematics.
Minimum 10+ years of engineering experience related to embedded control system, calibration, related hardware, and/or safety critical system development
Demonstrated technical background in chassis controls and/or vehicle dynamics
Demonstrated results in successful project execution
Excellent multi-functional communication and leadership skills - able to get multiple teams moving in the same direction
Demonstrated ability to "Deal with Ambiguity" while driving timely decision making
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Master of Science in Engineering and/or Master of Business Administration
Master of Science in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, Mechatronic, Aerospace, Systems or Software Engineering with emphasis in Controls or Robotics
Experience in chassis controls development
leadership experience in leading other leaders
Leadership experience developing or utilizing industry standards
Leadership experience in safety compliance of embedded systems
Leadership of teams of engineers responsible for developing or testing embedded control systems or related hardware in an agile environment
Demonstrated ability to: achieve results through effective teamwork, lead numerous projects with different focal areas to successful completion, and manage and measure work through metrics, data, and results
Experience managing a global team that is geographically dispersed
Working knowledge of embedded controls development tool set – (e.g. IBM Rational Tool Suite, Jira/Jama, Git ecosystem, MATLAB-Simulink, ETAS)
