Purpose:


 
The Senior Manager is a key role in the implementation and sustainment of regulatory/compliance business activities supporting the Canadian Banking division.  The incumbent leads and drives initiatives, changes, and innovations required by the Canadian Consumer Protection Framework within the Bank Act. Objectives include ensuring operational activities, business strategies, plans and initiatives, business practices and controls, are effectively executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

 

Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

 

Lead and champion implemented changes, commitments, and sustainment strategy developed for the Consumer Protection Framework using a structured project/program management approach. Support the implementation of other regulatory requirements impacting Canadian Banking (provincial or federal) with a focus on Redress and Disclosures.  Lead and drive alignment and sustainment of Canadian Banking compliance best practices (all business lines) by: Working with business lines, delivery channels and support areas to identify and drive initiatives and efficiencies to comply with the new requirements. Being the subject matter expert to support Regulatory requirements for day-to-day operations and support those initiatives as required. Building effective working relationships with various business lines and stakeholders, continually looking for opportunities to improve engagement and ways to further ingrain the changes and innovations required under the new Consumer Protection Framework (or other regulatory changes). Lead and collaborate with stakeholders and Senior Leadership to ensure awareness, alignment, and sustainment of key Consumer Protection Framework requirements by: Ensuring Leaders across all channels have the necessary knowledge and understanding of the legal/compliance requirements and how they may apply to the operations of their respective units including risks and opportunities. Developing and executing a comprehensive Communication Plan, leveraging senior ‘voices’ to continually reinforce the new compliance requirements and how they will change the way Scotiabank does business Providing insights and support for the broader internal controls team as a subject matter expert  Drive continuous analysis and identification of opportunities, gaps and risks

 

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We would love to work with you if you have:

 

 

Thorough knowledge of the Canadian financial services marketplace including regulatory requirements and trends.  Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, Microsoft Applications, etc.). Solid knowledge of branch/CBCC/digital operations (personal and business banking). Strong capability to develop knowledge of other business lines and channels with Canadian Banking. Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.  University degree preferred.
