As the Senior Manager for Surety Ontario, you will play a crucial role in managing complex surety accounts, broker relationships, developing new business with key strategic brokers and accounts, while adhering to corporate underwriting standards and risk management controls. The role should have a solid understanding of financial and accounting principles, and the ability to demonstrate sound business judgment in the evaluation of the financial condition, experience, credit history and character of Contract Surety accounts.

What You’ll DoCollaborate with Surety team members to ensure the flawless administration of risks and policies.
Strictly adhere to Aviva’s Risk & Control Framework for contract surety.
Present underwriting decisions outside of delegated authority to appropriate levels within the Aviva Surety business, including reinsurance.
Represent Contract Surety in the Ontario region to internal and external collaborators, including brokers, Head Office, and senior Aviva management.
Serve as the lead underwriter for technically complex accounts.
Make underwriting decisions, recommendations, and action plans.
Review and sign off on account renewals.
Provide leadership, training, and onboarding for new staff members.
Coordinate financial performance and maintain Contract Surety policies and guidelines.
Develop and implement marketing and business development plans.
Manage key broker and contractor relationships and promote improved engagement and enablement.
Manage the contract surety portfolio in the Ontario region, which includes making underwriting decisions, marketing, broker management, analyzing underwriting data, and overseeing the portfolio.
What You’ll BringBroad knowledge of business, construction, finance, accounting, contract law, and risk management.
At least 5 years of experience working with financial statements, preferably for public and large private contracting firms.
Proven experience in providing analytics and reports to support creditworthiness and risk selection decisions.
Solid understanding of credit analytics for construction companies.
Ability to build trust and credibility with both internal and external collaborators.
Critical thinking and strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Outstanding ability to multi-task and manage conflicting priorities.
Proven negotiation and persuasion skills.
Highly organized with a passion for the surety line of business.
Ambitious, driven, and self-motivated.
University Degree or equivalent experience
Accounting designation is an asset
