Senior Manager, Corporate Global Trade Compliance
Position Summary
Support the Global Trade Compliance Team to drive trade compliance excellence as defined by adherence to applicable U.S. and non-U.S. laws and regulations pertaining to international trade. Will assist businesses to assess and mitigate tariff requirements and other compliance risks. Will ensure compliance with corporate policies. Will support businesses in developing efficient, effective and appropriate compliance work procedures to support adherence with US and local regulations as well as the corporate policies. Will work with other functions such as Procurement, Operations, Supply Chain, Tax, Finance, etc. to handle tariff and ESG requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Corporate GTC Team and Group and Divisional Trade Compliance Leaders to drive strategic direction of trade compliance processes and identify and handle cost savingsHandles sophisticated and serious issues with input from divisional GTC leader/corporate GTC as needed.Makes decisions on risk (where appropriate for GTC to do so) in conjunction with business partners in less sophisticated/high value matters.Gain proficiency in and support the use of the Global Trade Compliance Strategic Solution, OneSource, to train businesses on usage, run reports, handle critical metricsApply CBP’s ACE and the GTC Strategic Solution to handle, audit data integrity, and report on classifications and country of origin for the Thermo Fisher product portfolioWork with the appropriate businesses to apply for and handle duty drawback programsSupport sites in internal assessments, desk audits, completion of post audit follow-up actions and evaluate common themes in audits and develop programs to proactively address issuesDrive continuous process improvements for maximization of tariff mitigation, operational excellence, and financial benefits associated with corporate standards and industry standardsAnalyze the changing trade environment and proposing strategic solutions to improve compliance programSupervise and drive process improvements while ensuring compliance to regulations.Connect with business trade compliance resources on matters impacting businessMitigate risk to the organization through proactive process management ensuring that all activities are carried out in accordance with Thermo Fisher Scientific policies, standards, and applicable laws in the area of customs and export complianceRaise the overall level of knowledge and professionalism of import and export resources and leadership across the organization and work in partnership with other functions to achieve cost and tariff savingsLeads complex projects and change initiatives. Works on issues and initiatives that impact future business goals. Leads proactive measures to improve GTCApplies critical thinking, information gathering, interpersonal skills and judgement to identify and analyze complex GTC problems. Generates practical evidence-informed solutions while considering legislation.Minimum Experience and Skills Required
Bachelors Degree in Transportation / Logistics, Business, or International Trade, or an equivalent combination of university education and work experience 8-10 years experience in compliance management with demonstrated experience handling compliance activities in a multi-national company, preferably in a capital equipment industry.
