About the Role

As a key member of the AI/BI team, the Solution Designer (Data Modeler) will play a central role in shaping the organisation’s data architecture to support data-informed decision-making and operational efficiency. This role involves close collaboration with business units across Asia and with Group office functions including Marketing, Distribution, Strategy, Finance, Digital, and Operations. The incumbent will be responsible for designing robust data models—including schemas, relationships, and normalization strategies—that meet analytical and operational needs. Additionally, they will define the overall technical approach, including system integration, data flow, and platform selection, ensuring alignment with both business objectives and technical requirements. Combining deep data modelling expertise with strategic solution design, the role enables scalable, high-performance data solutions across the enterprise

Roles and Responsibilities:

Design and architect comprehensive data solutions, including data models, pipelines, and integration frameworks, to support both analytical and operational needs across the enterprise.Design the structure of data models, including schemas, relationships, and normalization strategies, to ensure efficiency, scalability, and alignment with business requirements.Define the overall technical approach for data solutions, covering system integration, data flow architecture, platform selection, and scalability.Collaborate with business units across AIA business units and Group office functions to understand data requirements and translate them into scalable, high-performance solutions.Create reusable data solution components and frameworks to accelerate delivery and maintain consistency across projects.Serve as the subject matter expert on data architecture, modelling methodologies, and integration best practices.Provide consultancy on the design, implementation, and maintenance of data solutions, ensuring seamless integration with AI/BI platforms and enterprise systems.Maintain comprehensive documentation for data architecture, data flows, and integration points.Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed data solutions and technical approaches.Ensure regular communication with AIA Group Offices and local business units to align data architecture with evolving business needs.Define and enforce data solution standards, governance policies, and quality assurance protocols.Support data governance initiatives by ensuring data integrity, consistency, and compliance with internal and external regulations.Collaborate with AI/BI developers, data engineers, and analytics teams to ensure seamless integration between data solutions and reporting platforms.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in a numerate discipline, e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or Computer Science;10+ years of hands-on experience in data solution development, including data modelling, data pipelines, and architecture designExperience managing data or BI teams, with a proven track record of leading complex data initiativesExperience mentoring other data professionals and fostering technical growth within teamsStrong foundation in data analytics, including statistical analysis, data modelling, and deriving actionable insights from complex datasetsProficient in Power BI and SQL; familiarity with other BI platforms and data visualization tools is a plusFamiliarity with data analytics tools and techniques such as Python, R, and machine learning frameworks is a plusDemonstrated ability to design scalable, efficient, and maintainable data solutions aligned with business and technical requirementsStrong interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to build lasting relationships across all levels of the organizationPositive attitude toward challenges and change; able to lead transformation initiatives effectivelyOptimistic and adaptable; thrives in fast-paced, ambitious environmentsExcellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skillsStrong command of written and spoken English and Chinese is required to effectively communicate across diverse teams and stakeholders.
