The Site EHS Leader will instill a culture of safety and environmental responsibility, drive continual improvement in health and safety standards, and ensure compliance with internal and external regulations. This role will lead cross-functional teams, manage risk, and foster strong relationships across the organization to promote a positive EHS culture.
Key Responsibilities
Implement and sustain a positive environmental, health and safety culture through the application of the management systems framework at site. This includes establishing the short term and long-term strategic plan for the site to foster continual environmental, health and safety Improvement, leading programs, policies and assessments and monitoring performance to ensure compliance with Marathon Electric internal requirements, applicable environmental, health and safety regulations and industry standards.Builds strong relationships across functions to ensure the organization understands their roles and responsibilities and are committed to driving a positive environmental, health and safety culture. Ensures employees are consulted and given the opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures.Leads hazard identification, environmental aspect identification and risk assessment programs to identify strategic risk improvement opportunities and gaps in environmental, health and safety compliance obligations. Manages planning actions to set targets and objectives for the site and supervises actions through completion.Leads an effective support model throughout the site through training, skills development and internal communications. Develops and maintains support content ensuring it is up to date, controlled and available while adhering to data privacy regulations. Interfaces with external regulatory bodies as required with the support of the legal department.Leads daily environmental, health and safety operations within the site providing support to solve issues, including but not limited to environmental, health and safety compliance, capital and resource management, risk reduction, incident investigation, management of change, contractor safety, emergency preparedness and response, pollution prevention and environmental sustainability.Drives improvements to environmental, health and safety performance metrics using a risk-based and data-driven approach. Adheres to Marathon Electric internal reporting requirements through approved systems. Evaluates site environmental, health and safety data, legal compliance findings, and internal and external audit results to develop an improvement plan. Leads site Health, Safety, Environmental Management Systems review defined periodically in conformance with Marathon Electric internal requirements.Leads work cross-functionally as required to resolve work-related incidents, non-compliances, non-conformities, corrective and preventive actions driving continual improvement within the site(s).Coaches and develops direct reports and/or cross-functional teams based on stakeholder feedback, observations and succession plan needs. Actively seeks opportunities for self-development through professional environmental, health and safety organizations, as a champion of emerging trends.QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field required.Postgraduate Diploma / Degree in Industrial Safety, Environmental Management, Sustainability (RLI, State Board of Technical Education) is preferred.EXPERIENCE
