Reporting to Director, Retail Facilities & Environmental you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all comprehensive energy strategies and programs across all aspects of LCBO operations. You will manage the annual expenditure for all utilities and carry out the corporate reporting requirements to the LCBO Spirit Of Sustainability platform. You will be responsible for maintaining and monitoring the energy management and waste programs for all LCBO locations across the province. This will involve quantifying, assessing, monitoring, and assisting with the implementation of initiatives as well as associated analysis.
As the Senior Manager, Energy & Environment you will lead efforts to optimize energy efficiencies, reduce waste, and conserve resources, and across all levels of operations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate environmental considerations into operations policies and processes will be essential.
About the Role
This role requires a comprehensive understanding of facilities equipment and facilities management involved in the analysis of suitable equipment and continued energy efficiency. These types of analysis will include operational efficiencies, functionality and ROI analysis in the given environment. Technical expertise will be required for investigations and analysis to drive energy efficiencies throughout the portfolio.
Analytics will include various sources of data including energy consumption, costs and equipment operational efficiencies focused on addressing the growing concern of rising utility and waste costs and embracing sustainability to improve yield and drive bottom line growth.
Highlights:
Manages third party Utility Management team and associated system and contract to ensure ongoing accuracy, integrity and delivery of all energy data and utility payments for all LCBO locations.
Responsible for continued operation of the Utility Management system to provide LCBO data, trends, and information for identification of energy saving initiatives, development of best practices and reduction of corporate operational costs in utility consumption.
Negotiate terms of partnership agreements for alternative energy or energy savings investments.
Create utility data analytics reports and dashboards as required.
Manage and oversee various waste management and recycling projects.
Measure and report on energy and waste data and associated analysis corporately and by segmentation as required.
Develop and maintain strategic initiatives and policies of how various energy and waste metrics impact LCBO’s business and support LCBO’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategies.
Provide a critical voice in the development of standards, processes and quality assurance to support long term energy reduction goals and environmental sustainability targets.
Manage building automation with outsourced company and associated reporting across multiple properties.
Technical input and oversight of all building equipment and Building Automation Systems balancing end user requirements, system functionality, environmental sustainability, and financial impact.
About You
Undergraduate Degree in engineering or associated degree in electrical engineering technology, HVAC technology, energy management or related field.
Minimum of 10 years progressive work experience gained in energy and environmental management, HVAC and controls or utility management.
2+ years of experience assessment and analysis of building equipment to improve energy efficiency in the portfolio.
Extensive knowledge and experience of sustainability, HVAC, electrical systems, lighting, refrigeration, commissioning, and building controls & technology.
Extensive level of knowledge of utilities usage, costs, and incentive programs in the Canadian environment.
Comprehensive understanding of the energy market as it relates to supply management, rates, tariffs, pricing, Ontario Energy Board (OEB) and IESO (Independent Electric System Operator) rules, roles and initiatives.
Experience in business process and data analysis using information and technology tools and programs to assess and represent information, inform recommendations, support decision making and service delivery.
