**This role in summary**
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Principal Engineer to lead the technical direction, integration, and continuous improvement of mechanical structures within our refrigeration platforms. This technical expert will drive sub-system solutions that consistently meet and exceed attribute targets for cost, quality, and performance.
The Principal Engineer will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining sub-system roadmaps, advancing system models, solving complex technical challenges, and guiding cross-functional teams to ensure robust, scalable solutions across multiple architectures. This role is critical to delivering technical leadership, building knowledge, and influencing our future product pipeline.
**Your responsibilities will include**
+ Develop and maintain the Mechanical Structures sub-system/technology roadmap in alignment with platform, regional, and architecture strategies.
+ Drive technical trade-offs and recommendations across design, manufacturing, and supply chain to meet sub-system attribute targets.
+ Develop and apply advanced system models and predictive analyses at the sub-system level.
+ Define and translate high-level sub-system attribute targets into actionable module and component specifications.
+ Identify gaps in current architecture, supply base, and manufacturing capabilities; lead resolution of knowledge gaps.
+ Act as the technical subject matter expert (SME) and mentor for engineers and module teams, fostering technical depth and knowledge sharing.
+ Collaborate closely with System Integrators, Project Leaders, Manufacturing and Regional Marketing to ensure alignment and project success.
+ Support architecture simplification and standardization to enable design efficiency and commonality.
**Minimum requirements**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
+ 15+ years of progressive engineering experience in mechanical structures design and new product development with 5+ years of leading a technical team.
+ Deep technical knowledge of mechanical systems and materials science.
+ Ability to understand and predict the effects of variation on mechanical properties.
+ Ability to run testing on physical samples to validate and correlate with math-physics models.
+ Strong systems engineering mindset; ability to translate complex requirements into clear sub-system specifications.
+ Proven track record of solving complex technical challenges and guiding cross-functional teams.
+ Ability to use the sciences to practically solve problems in product development and project execution.
+ Excellent communication and collaboration skills in global, cross-functional environments.
+ Experience influencing major business decisions at executive levels.
+ Applied experience with Lean Product Development, OPEX, and Design for Safety/Reliability principles.
+ Ability to work from Monterrey, Mexico office.
**Preferred skills and experiences**
+ Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
+ Knowledge and experience in the consumer products and refrigeration industry.
+ Ability to develop and execute training and mentoring programs.
+ Experience creating, maintaining and managing external partnerships for product development such as Universities and other external organizations
+ Lean Six Sigma or equivalent certification.
