What you'll be doing
The position will be responsible for supporting the bank-wide ESG transformation to prepare for evolving voluntary and regulatory requirements. You will focus on closing disclosure gaps by working with business subject matter experts to develop and enhance disclosures aligned with technical quantitative and qualitative requirements. The role is also responsible for developing and implementing processes and controls, policies, and guidelines to enhance CIBC’s ESG control environment. The role works collaboratively with stakeholders across business units and functional groups, championing change and educating partners on ESG requirements.

How you'll succeed
Expertise on ESG, including regulatory landscape : Brings deep knowledge of strategic and technical ESG concepts, including materiality, sustainable finance, sustainable issuance, ESG and sustainability reporting frameworks, and financial sector implications of ESG. Brings knowledge and expertise on ESG voluntary standards and evolving regulatory landscape, staying apprised of changes, impacts, and opportunities to prepare as new requirements emerge. Monitors evolving standard and regulations (e.g., ISSB, OSFI-B-15, CSRD, etc.) and supports interpretation of changes and impacts to CIBC’s ESG strategy, disclosures, processes, controls, and data approaches.
ESG-related disclosures : Conducts research, analysis, and benchmarking to identify opportunities to enhance CIBC’s sustainability report and other ESG disclosures to improve alignment with voluntary and regulatory requirements. Works with stakeholders from across CIBC to evolve ESG disclosures to prepare to comply with regulatory requirements and enhance disclosures year-over-year.
Processes and controls : Supports the implementation to formalize CIBC’s ESG processes and controls, leveraging existing CIBC frameworks and available ESG policies, methodologies and governance approaches. Collaborates with internal stakeholders (e.g., Finance, Risk, Process Engineering) as well as external consultants to develop and strengthen CIBC’s governance and control framework to prepare for current and future requirements. Acts as subject matter expert to support stakeholders across CIBC to develop process documents and internal controls for qualitative and quantitative ESG metrics, aligned with CIBC’s existing Control Framework. Supports preparation for evolving assurance or audit requirements as they emerge.
Contribution to ESG data and measurement : Designs and implements strong data and measurement approaches to ensure accurate, reliable, and auditable ESG disclosures. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to build data capabilities, develops recommendations, and works with stakeholders to implement ESG data and measurement strategies. Monitors ESG processes and controls and data and measurement approaches and makes recommendations to ensure continuous improvement and effectiveness.
Stakeholder collaboration : Demonstrates strong interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to manage key stakeholder relationships. Supports end-to-end project implementation as an ESG subject matter expert and provides guidance to a diverse team of professionals. Maintains a collaborative work environment and supports team members to resolve organizational, operational, and process problems.
Who you are
You demonstrate a minimum of three years in financial services, ESG, sustainability, audit/assurance or a related field.
You demonstrate technical knowledge of ESG concepts, frameworks and regulations, with an understanding of the evolving ESG landscape.
