CBC/Radio-Canada is looking for a talented writer to create clear, engaging content for public audiences. In this role, you’ll develop speeches, editorials, and internal communications that reflect our strategic objectives and key messages. You’ll collaborate with our English writer to adapt materials for a French audience, ensure high-quality copy editing, and work closely with internal experts to shape impactful stories.
Your key responsibilities:
Write clear, engaging communications for public audiences. Includes speeches, editorials, internal communications, and letters on issues of importance to CBC/Radio-Canada and the cultural industry.
Express the Corporation’s strategic objectives and positions into compelling narratives intended for external audiences.
Work with the English writer to review translated documents and adapt English materials for a French audience.
Ensure high-quality copy editing of materials produced by others.
Develop, in collaboration with the public affairs team, a planning calendar for written materials.
Liaise with internal experts to gather content about relevant topics.
Adopt key messages developed by the Strategy, Public Affairs and Government relations and Communications teams for use in public communications.
Ensure consistency with the organization’s objectives.
We are looking for a candidate with the following:
Degree in Communications, Journalism or equivalent.
Minimum of five years of directly-related experience in a similar role.
Exceptional writing, copywriting and proofreading skills in French.
Experience in strategic and policy writing, speech writing.
Knowledge of the media industry is an asset.
Strong oral communications skills.
Ability to analyze and synthesize complex information.
Ability to write quickly and for various formats (print, video, scripts, web content).
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing various projects at the same time with tight deadline.
Attention to details.
Experience in providing advice to senior executives.
Able to work in English and French.
Candidates should expect to provide writing samples and possibly complete a short writing test.
Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
