The Opportunity:
The Senior Manager role will be a generalist position that supports all Giving & Social impact workstreams, from health policy to grant management. These team members will not specialize in one specific workstream and instead will provide support based on the workload at the time. These team members will report to the Head of Giving and Social Impact, who will help them prioritize and allocate their time appropriately based on GSI team needs.

Primary Responsibilities & Activities:
Grant Application Process: Execute the grant application and selection process, including creating grant applications and supporting materials.
Create grant applications and supporting materials.
Enter grant data in the grantmaking system and review grant data to address coding questions.
Assist in evaluating grant applications
Monitor the performance of grants and implementation strategies
Organize meetings with prospective grant partners, program advisors, and other relevant stakeholders
Health Policy Execution: Implement health policy strategies in coordination with relevant teams.
Cross-Team Coordination: Collaborate with teams across Genentech to support grant-making and health policy efforts.
Reporting and Analysis: Manage internal reporting systems, perform data analysis and quality control, and track grant progress, metrics, and insights to inform future portfolio direction.
Communication: Handle routine inquiries from applicants, grantees, and Genentech staff. Work with senior leaders to support external and intra-Genentech communications.
Meeting Participation: Engage in GSI, EA, and GNE-wide meetings, cross-department committees, training programs, and other tasks.
Professional Development: Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current on professional skills, field developments and compliance requirements.
Work Arrangements:
Report to the Head of Giving, who will evaluate and distribute workload across the GSI grantmaking portfolio.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 8 years of related/relevant experience
Subject matter expertise with 6-8 years in corporate philanthropy and strategic grantmaking
Foundational understanding of business priorities
Experience managing and evaluating small to mid-size budgets and well-scoped projects with limited complexity
Leads with integrity and passion for goals that drive Genentech’s giving and delivering the greatest impact to patients and Genentech
Preferred Qualifications
An advanced degree with 6 years of equivalent work experience.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, California $137,200/yr to $254,800/yr. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
