Vanguard’s Institutional Investor Group is seeking an experienced operations leader to oversee the centralized operations functions for the division. In this newly created role, you would have the opportunity to establish a vision and strategy for the operations function and be in the unique position to further orient performance towards our key participant and sponsor journeys. This role would also be responsible for leading strong improvement in meeting and exceeding service levels, monitoring and closing risk issues, minimizing errors, and improving overall operational health.
As the Senior Manager, Institutional Operations you are responsible for the delivery of transformational change by providing leadership and direction to large, complex, multi-stakeholder programs focused on overarching improvements to processes, operations, or teams. Leads and directs the activities of large departments or managers and specialists.
What it Takes
+ Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
+ Manages multi-year, cross-divisional programs independently as a program lead. Drives all phases of the program lifecycle from inception through implementation while ensuring that business objectives are delivered with high quality and within targeted timeframes.
+ Creates and maintains a multi-year program strategy that clearly identifies specific actions and tasks needed to achieve future state goals. Drives communication to many different audiences within Vanguard on the overall goals and outcomes of the program.
+ Builds and maintains strategic relationships across sites, departments, divisions, and internal and external partners to support their program initiatives. Develops strong relationships with program leadership, sponsors, and workstream leads.
+ Holds responsibility over program budget; monitoring cost variances, and forecasting and allocating program costs. Ensures all steps are taken to mitigate risk and maintains control, compliance, audit, and legal requirements.
+ Has executive presence and able to lead discussions with Senior Leadership.
+ Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
+ Helps drive innovation and adoption of AI within Institutional Investment Group.
Qualifications
+ Minimum of ten years of related business experience, with at least six years of large-scale program management and /or technology transformation experience.
+ People leadership/supervisory experience is required.
+ Demonstrated ability to drive business initiatives and operational efficiencies.
+ Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience required.

+ Graduate degree preferred.
+ Previous experience evangelizing and implementing or scaling AI solutions is highly preferred.
