The Opportunity
The Genentech Employee and Community Engagement team within the Corporate Communications team is seeking an experienced communications professional who is passionate about developing and implementing communication strategies to drive business performance, employee engagement and organizational culture. The right individual must be an effective communicator, a strong collaborator and have the ability to influence and advise stakeholders at all levels of the organization. This individual will work closely with executive and external communication teams, stakeholders, and partners to lead internal communication campaigns, change management communication, and cultural engagement efforts; develop innovative ways to engage employees and inspire them to action; write clear and exceptional communications, business update presentations, narratives and talking points. As part of a high-performing team, you will leverage internal expertise and industry best practices to deliver innovative communications.
This role offers a unique opportunity for the ideal candidate to drive the internal communications strategy across the Genentech organization. The successful candidate will work with executive leaders and cross-functional colleagues to deliver best-in-class employee communications in support of the organization’s vision and mission.

Key Responsibilities:
Assume responsibility for assigned communications projects and serve as a primary contact
Develop high-quality internal communications content and materials, including newsletters, intranet content, executive communications, and presentations that bring the business narrative to life through original content and innovative approaches
Support organization-wide initiatives and communications efforts, including: producing internal articles, partnering key employee events, developing digital and multimedia stories, and delivering communications plans and campaigns that help advance strategic goals.
Partner across corporate communications to lead internal communication efforts during times of change, crisis, or transition, ensuring timely and transparent messaging to all employees.
Manage and optimize internal communication channels (e.g., intranet, email, social media) to ensure they effectively reach and engage employees.
Lead within critical enterprise-wide and community forums relevant to work; Serve as a key communication and engagement advisor and a steward of the culture
Stay current on latest communication and engagement trends and company culture, integrating learnings and experimenting with new programs elements, formats, channels and approaches
Work fluidly across the ECE team and Corporate Communications department to support special projects as needed
Participate in business travel, by air or car, when required for regular internal and external business meetings.
Comply with all laws, regulations, and policies that govern the conduct of Genentech activities.

Required Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
You have at least 8 years of previous communications or public relations experience
High-level proficiency in Google applications and Apple Products
Extensive experience developing messaging and communications strategies and plans in support of business goals, initiatives and internal events
Solid experience in communications design and advanced presentation development skills.
Proven ability to provide strategic communications counsel to senior leaders, orchestrating high-visibility executive presentations, and developing brand identity.
Solid understanding of internal communications and employee engagement, channels and event management
Expertise in building and executing complex strategies and programs for employees, events and campaigns
Impeccable ethics and integrity
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience gained in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or related industry
Previous corporate communications or communications agency experience and marketing experience

Experience in corporate communications, employee engagement for a hybrid workforce, and channel mix usage and optimization
Experience developing and implementing communication strategies in collaboration with a diverse team.
Understanding of business priorities, employee preferences, company culture and industry landscape and is considered a key partner in advancing relevant enterprise objectives
Excellent program management skills; highly skilled at managing complex multi-channel experience and cross functional teams; experience managing vendors and contractors
Skilled at writing,story-telling through different mediums and channels and editing, verbal communications and presentations
Ability to design and implement innovative communication efforts that engage and inspire others at various levels in the organization.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, California is $139,000/yr to $258,100/yr. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
