Join our Data Governance team at Aviva Canada as a Senior Manager, Model Governance. This leadership role provides an outstanding opportunity to craft the future of model governance at Aviva by ensuring models align with regulatory, risk, and compliance requirements. You will collaborate with Aviva Group, Data Analytics, IT, and business teams to establish and maintain governance standards, frameworks, and controls for models used across the organization.

What You'll Do:Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a comprehensive Model Governance framework that supports Aviva’s business objectives while ensuring consistency, quality, and compliance across all models.
Establish and enforce policies, standards, and guidelines for model design, development, and management, ensuring all models adhere to standard methodologies and regulatory requirements.
Coordinate the lifecycle of models, from design and development through to deployment and monitoring, ensuring accurate documentation, versioning, and approval processes.
Partner with Data Analytics, IT, and business teams to ensure governance is embedded throughout the model lifecycle, including the accurate and ethical use of data.
Establish and maintain an audit trail for data models to ensure transparency, accountability, and traceability, and to satisfy internal and external audit requirements.
Implement and monitor controls to manage the risks associated with models.
Implement frameworks, methodologies, and controls developed by Aviva Group, and operationalize these for Aviva Canada.
Lead the development and implementation of risk management strategies specific to models, ensuring all models are assessed for compliance risks and vulnerabilities.
Collaborate with Data Services, Data Analytics, and other relevant teams to develop processes for regularly validating, testing, and monitoring model performance to meet business and compliance needs.
Collaborate with legal, risk, privacy, and compliance collaborators to assess model risks and ensure that models remain in compliance throughout their lifecycle.
Drive continuous improvements in the model governance framework, ensuring it evolves to meet changing business, regulatory, and technological needs.
Provide regular reports to senior management and collaborators on the status of model governance, highlighting key risks, issues, and compliance gaps.
Act as a primary contact for any inquiries related to model governance, offering expert advice and recommendations to collaborators throughout the organization.
What You'll Bring:Extensive experience in data governance, with a specific focus on model governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
Proven experience governing various models, including machine learning, artificial intelligence, or generative artificial intelligence models.
Experience working with data services, data analytics, and IT teams to implement governance processes across the model lifecycle.
Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills, with the ability to manage complex data governance and compliance scenarios.
Excellent communication and collaborator leadership skills, with the ability to influence and work with senior leadership, technical teams, and other collaborators.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field (e.g., Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration), or equivalent experience.
Relevant certifications in data governance, risk management, or compliance (e.g., DAMA, CRISC, CISM) are an asset.
What You’ll Get:The salary band for this position ranges from $92,100 to $171,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
