Senior Manager, Privacy and Data Ethics Office

General Description:

BeiGene is seeking a senior manager to join its Privacy and Data Ethics Office (PDEO). This new role will report to the Global Director of Information Governance with a dotted line to the Directors of the Privacy and Data Ethics Office and will play a critical role in expanding BeiGene’s Privacy and Information Governance programs, supporting our regional and global operations.

We are looking for someone with a background in privacy and data laws, who can partner with business teams to nurture our culture of privacy and data compliance, ensuring we meet both regulatory and ethical standards while fostering practical, actionable solutions. In this role, you will engage closely with key stakeholders and various business lines, driving initiatives that align privacy, data ethics and information governance with broader business objectives to support BeiGene’s ongoing growth and commitment to ethical practices.

This is a remote position based in Portugal or Spain.  Fluency in English as well as Spanish and/or Portuguese is required, with fluency in all three languages strongly preferred.  Fluency in Arabic or Chinese a plus.

Essential Functions of the job:

Assisting with the privacy operations, including assignment and review of privacy and other kinds of assessments (e.g., records of data processing, data protection impact assessments, third party risk assessments, etc.), and assisting with associated risk mitigation effortsAssisting in the maintenance of BeiGene’s records retention schedule, including conducting research on record retention laws, regulations and standardsSupporting privacy and information governance projects and trainingsSupporting the Privacy and Data Ethics Office’s (PDEO’s) program expansion into AI and data laws/data ethicsResponding to privacy and information governance questions from the business, particularly in Portuguese and Spanish speaking countries.Reviewing contracts and informed consent forms (ICFs) and addressing questions from the businessLiaising with Information Technology and the business to evaluate information systems for recordkeeping requirementsDeveloping and maintaining PDEO’s contract and ICF templates and negotiation playbooksDeveloping and tracking performance metrics for PDEO’s programsAssisting in the preparation, maintenance, and implementation of PDEO’s policies and standard operating procedures.Designing and implementing both formal and informal training programs, along with other internal communication efforts, for PDEO programsSupporting research on privacy and information governance laws, regulations, best practices and trendsLiaising with Information Technology and the business to evaluate information systems for recordkeeping requirements

 Required Qualifications:

Familiarity with privacy and data laws, regulations, and principles (e.g., GDPR, Privacy by Design, etc.) and strong legal research skills.Excellent communication skills (oral and written); strong interpersonal skills in both one-on-one and group settings.Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality in dealing with sensitive matters.Acts with a sense of urgency, with high motivation and ability to take initiative, follow through and complete projects in a professional and expeditious manner.Strong presentation skills, including creating and delivering presentations to various size audiences at all levels of the organization.Strong analytical and business-focused problem-solving skills.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Fluency in English as well as Spanish and/or Portuguese.

Other Qualifications: Preferred

3 years of post-qualification experience.Familiarity with information governance principles and operations.Ability to work effectively in a global environment and good at managing work under a matrix organization structure and comparably complicated environment.Fluency in Arabic or Chinese a plus.Experience in the pharmaceutical or life science industryExperience with privacy regulations in South and Central America

Education Required:

University degree in law required.

Computer Skills:   

Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of tools including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel requiredFamiliarity with OneTrust modules preferred

Travel:   

Travel less than 10%Able to travel within the region or internationally as required
