Senior Manager, Risk Intelligence and Analytics

As a global function supporting business units in North America, Asia, and Europe, the information generated by our programs is used to make critical business decisions and allows the Board Risk Committee to effectively oversee risk-taking activities within Manulife. **Key Responsibilities:** Reporting to **Director, Risk Intelligence and Technology** , the senior manager’s responsibility will be to deliver ongoing enhancements to reporting and analytics in support of the Global Operational Risk and Resilience Oversight (ORRO) function programs. The role will be responsible for delivering various functional capabilities, including developing and implementing advanced data analytics techniques, utilizing and fine-tuning large language models for natural language processing tasks, creating comprehensive reports and dashboards, building predictive and descriptive models, and implementing automation solutions to streamline operational risk management activities. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive background in risk management, advanced data analytics, and AI technologies These skills should combined with exceptional problem-solving and leadership skills. Additionally, the successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and executing strategic roadmaps and plans to enhance these capabilities. **Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:** + Develop and implement strategic roadmaps and plans to enhance risk management, data analytics, and AI capabilities. + Leverage expertise in machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision to drive innovation and efficiency. + Lead and mentor teams to solve complex problems and achieve organizational goals. + Support the development of GenAI models and processes to enable proactive risk intelligence. + Own the process automation initiatives and lead the implementation of robotic process automation (RPA) solutions to streamline operations and improve efficiency. + Partner with program leads to support report transformation and business intelligence (BI) enablement of ORRO programs. + Analyze and interpret data to inform decision-making and strategy development. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI technologies into business processes. + Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices in risk management and data analytics. + Continuously monitor and assess emerging trends and technologies to maintain a competitive edge. + Provide Archer (Risk System) Program Support, including assisting with the Archer system initiatives (e.g. data analysis, data clean-up, validation, creating and maintenance of reports and dashboards) **Qualifications:** + Broad knowledge of risk management, model development, or risk governance within financial services or insurance business functions. + 8-10 years of relevant experience in any of the fields of automation, analytics, and or reporting + Understanding of OSFI-E21, and other relevant regulations is an asset, along with familiarity with governance frameworks and model usage within organizations. + Skilled in Python, R, SQL, Pandas, Jupiter notebooks, database schemas, data modeling and ETL processes to derive actionable insights. + Proficiency in Microsoft Power Automate and PowerApps, with the ability to design, develop, and deploy automated workflows and custom applications to enhance business processes and improve operational efficiency. + Strong RPA, GenAI and analytics background + Skilled in dashboard design with a focus on UI/UX. + Experience in big data analysis, including the use of Azure (OpenAI service, Machine Learning, Databricks, Synapse Analytics, Datalake) to process and interpret large datasets. + Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy. + Highly organized individual with strong time management and organizational skills. + Self-starter with the ability to work independently. + Excellent collaborative and relationship building skills; showing tact and diplomacy in dealing with others. + Ability to learn quickly and be comfortable with adjusting to ad-hoc changes in workflow. **What you will gain from this experience:** + Learn how operational risk is managed within a global financial institution. + Develop the ability to assimilate large amounts of information and deliver right-sized key messaging to decision makers. + Building your personal profile through exposure to building and enhancing risk programs and collaborating with key stakeholders across the Company. + Gain an appreciation of how the Company is executing on its strategic vision through operational risk perspective. **About Manulife and John Hancock** Manulife Financial Corporation is a leading international financial services provider, helping people make their decisions easier and lives better.
