As a Senior Manager, Software Engineering you will focus on building experiences for our core streaming products, pushing the boundaries of what is possible on the client as part of our Web Player team. This team is responsible for creating, owning, and supporting our various playback libraries. We support Disney+, Hulu, ESPN, ABC, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic, and all of our entertainment and streaming properties by building inner-source libraries that deliver video playback!

Responsibilities:

Lead the design, development, and testing at the core of our internal video libraries

Partner with other engineering teams to craft solutions at scale

Encourage and drive implementation and utilization of architectural standards

Promote and support Agile methodologies such as Scrum, Kanban, and Scrumban by leading regular ceremonies such as stand-up, retrospectives and sprint planning.

Mentor engineering leaders and their squad members to help them improve their technical ability and build their profile within and outside of the organization.

Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, QA, Operations, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and articulate technical decisions and outcomes.

Grow an inclusive team culture built around positive intent

Minimum Qualifications 

Proven understanding of front-end web development technologies and principles

Comprehensive knowledge of JavaScript, JS frameworks, and server-side templating

Video playback experience using modern web technologies and APIs

Understanding of open source principles and patterns as they pertain to collaborative development

Demonstrated ability to research and learn new technologies

Strong communication skills and attention to detail

Driven and self motivated

Minimum 10 years relevant industry experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience.

The hiring range for this position in Seattle, WA and in New York City, NY is $193,100 to $258,900 per year; the hiring range for this position in Santa Monica/Burbank/Glendale/L.A., California and in Bristol, Connecticut is $184,300 to $247,100; and the hiring range for this position in San Francisco, California is $201,900 to $270,700 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
