Senior Manager, Strategic Risk

The Senior Manager will assist the Director in leading the development of enterprise level risk management documents including the Strategic Risk Management Framework and Reputational Risk Appetite, while ensuring the department’s business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. Assists with timely execution of activities to establish second line oversight over Strategic Risk as per the transformation roadmap to enhance management and oversight of strategic risk. Supports the ongoing maintenance and delivery of artefacts resulting from the Strategic Risk transformation exercise.  Responsible for the development and production of the Reputational Risk Appetite Report to the Reputational Risk Committee which includes input from various departments across the Bank, and ensuring that the report is accurate, complete, meaningful and timely. Ensure the report is consistent with industry practices. Coordinates the development, update, approval, and communication of the GRM Charter & Risk Appetite Statement; while ensuring it remains in compliance with governing regulations.  Develops plans to remediate issues raised by Internal Audit and/or regulatory examinations, and supports the Risk Oversight Reporting function on activities relating to GRM Regulatory Compliance Management Program. Supports the Director with the Annual Assessment of Strategic Risk, in collaboration with other stakeholders across GRM and broadly the bank, as required by the Bank’s ICAAP processes. Collaborates with other internal stakeholders including business lines, control and support functions (e.g. Legal, HR, Audit, etc.) to maintain effective internal communication through the ongoing sharing and acquiring of information. Maintains ongoing awareness of industry best practices and regulatory requirements and communicates findings with recommendations to management. Carries out special projects or investigations relating to enterprise risk or other relevant topics/areas as requested by the Director and/or senior management. Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk. Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

University degree is required MBA and/or professional designation (CPA, CFA, FRM) a plus Minimum 5 years industry experience required Strong understanding of the Bank’s operations and financial sector risks Superior communication skills with ability to write clearly and concisely Spanish language fluency would be an asset, but not required
