Senior Manager, Sustainability (Procurement)

Job Summary

The Sr. Manager, Sustainability will be responsible for developing and communicating procurement strategies that support the business goals in growth, cost savings, risk mitigation, working capital improvement, development of new products and achievement plant operating efficiencies.
This role will interact directly with Procurement Category teams, BU / Product Line leadership, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Legal, Finance, and R&D and to address sustainability improvement, risks and mitigation plans. while leading the development and implementation of the procurement strategy. Sustainability is critical to the success of all of IFF’s business units, thus interactions with the Flavors, Scent, Ingredients and Health & BioScience business is necessary. Additionally, this role will be responsible for the management of supplier ESG performance globally. The performance management and strategy development will be coordinated with colleagues in each region.

This is a global role, working across all our business units.

This role will interact directly with Procurement Category teams, BU / Product Line leadership, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Legal, Finance, and R&D and to address sustainability improvement, risks and mitigation plans. while leading the development and implementation of the procurement strategy. About This Role

This role has a high impact to IFF performance and high visibility from IFF leadership. With this, the Sr. Manager will:

Provide leadership in setting group goals /objective for the team

Aid in the development of strategies outside his / her immediate responsibility

Help develop less senior procurement colleague with the goal of succession planning.

Drive cost competitiveness through TCO and cash optimization, with a cross-functional vision

Reinforce IFF sustainability agenda on the category (communities, , vertical integration)

Drive innovations and support business growth through the development of new products and operational efficiency

Primary Responsibilities and Duties may include but are not limited to:

Lead procurement CSR policy:

Establish a structured approach and strategy in procurement for environmental and social causes

Identify, measure and benchmark KPIs and action-plans related to sustainable procurement policies and regulatory requirements

Develop and implement risk management strategies (via supply base assessment, supplier relationship management, etc.)

Influence procurement category strategies

Develop category strategies for assigned categories (ESG related services) and sub-categories.

Collaborate with regional procurement direct material category teams to incorporate sustainability considerations into regional category strategies.

Manage supplier relationships:

Understand and apply principals of SRM: Develop new/existing supplier partnerships to collaborate towards growth strategy and sustainability goals through innovation and technology, accessing supplier capabilities and reduce non-value-added suppliers

Conduct supplier surveys to develop the company's sourcing, quality and traceability approaches

Optimize raw material and service: Work with technical teams to accelerate adoption of alternate products and suppliers

Manage sustainability related procurement initiatives for stakeholder teams including:

Support the operational divisions in decision-making, in accordance with pre-determined CSR commitments

Define costs and negotiate sustainability purchases

Enhance commercial product offerings with improved social & environmental benefits

Meet supply chain cost expectations

Act as an internal ambassador:

Raise awareness of the importance of CSR policies and its challenges,

Promote socially and ecologically responsible procurement

Collaborate with internal stakeholders to effectively manage resources in potential strategic partnerships

Provide continuous impactful communication to stakeholders. Be the advocate of sustainability for Procurement

Present as Value Chain expert:

Apply knowledge of the agriculture, food and fragrance industries into developing scope 3 emission monitoring and reduction

Communicate effectively the benefits and future direction of IFF initiatives to convince potential strategic suppliers to partner with IFF

Your Qualifications:

Bachelor, or master’s degree in business (preferred), Economics, science/engineering, supply chain or equivalent experience

Experience in procurement of direct materials and the development of procurement strategies (> 10 years)

Related supply chain experience in the space operating around raw materials, suppliers, supplier relationship management and supply chain best practices (> 10 years)

Experience in sustainable sourcing of food, agriculture and/or fragrance sectors (>5 years)

Experience with sustainability business development, marketing and/or project management

Strong knowledge of business practices and financial concepts/impact/analyses (> 10 years)

Strong people skills, project management, and experience in cross-functional teams

Strong communication skills and presentation skills (written and oral) and global interaction.

Fluent in English (written and verbal)

Knowledge of ERP (SAP, Oracle..)

CPSM or SPSM or related certification in supply chain or procurement excellence is a plus

Location: Leiden, Netherlands or optionally Oviedo (Asturias), Spain - hybrid working model in both locations.
